What Librarianship Looks Like Today 🙂
There’s a long-standing joke about the unexpected tasks interns sometimes receive, but when Jimmy Smallwood, who is completing his Social Work degree at Appalachian State University, was handed a large bag of empty toilet paper rolls, he seemed a little unsure whether we were serious.
We were. Very serious about our holiday crafting, that is!
Jimmy graciously embraced the challenge and created three elf gift box prototypes for an upcoming Adult Basic Education (ABE) activity. Who knew that a bag of cardboard tubes could be the beginning of something so festive?
We’re grateful to have Jimmy as part of our S.O.A.R. Commons family this semester. His willingness to pitch in, try something new, and help bring our creative ideas to life is greatly appreciated.
At S.O.A.R. Commons, we believe learning, teamwork, and a little holiday magic can come from the most unexpected places—even the recycling bin!
