Congratulations to Derek Winters and Justin Sigman for being chosen as Hometown Heroes by Capital Ford of Hickory! We are very proud of Derek and Justin and appreciate the work they do for our department. Derek is the Senior Fire Mechanic and Justin is the Fire Mechanic. Behind every response is the preparation of ensuring all apparatus and vehicles are ready and well maintained. These gentlemen are experts in their field and are second to none. They spend countless hours inspecting, servicing, repairing, and troubleshooting fire apparatus that citizens and our personnel rely on. This work takes place behind the scenes with an importance that cannot be overstated. Derek and Justin’s dedication and expertise are the foundation of every response.

Our Airport Firefighters engage in monthly training sessions to uphold their ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting) certifications, covering essential topics such as Airport and Aircraft familiarization, Safety and Communications, Equipment and Extinguishers, and Operations & Evacuations. This week, they are completing their annual Live Fire training at the North Carolina Emergency Training Center (NCETC) located at the Stanly County Airport. Here are a few photographs of the facility and the training exercise.

Our little ones had a special message for our local firefighters: “Thank you for being my hero!” 🚒

During Fire Safety Week, our children made thank-you cards to show their appreciation for the brave firefighters who work hard to keep our community safe!

Thank you for being our everyday heroes! We appreciate all that you do! ❤️
