Open Door Ministries (ODM) raised $250,000 in funds and pledges during its third annual Masquerade Gala & Auction on Friday September 18th 2026, bringing together community members, sponsors, supporters, and advocates for an evening celebrating service, compassion, and the people at the heart of ODM’s mission.
For the third consecutive year, the Masquerade Gala was proudly presented by the Lenny Peters Foundation and Bethany Medical. Dr. Lenny Peters has also made a personal contribution of $150,000 toward the repair and maintenance of Open Door Ministries’ facility, helping ensure that ODM can continue providing critical services to neighbors throughout the community.
The evening featured a live auction, raffle, stories from the ODM community, and opportunities for guests to directly support the organization’s ongoing work. Together, attendees helped strengthen ODM’s ability to continue serving individuals experiencing homelessness, food insecurity, and other challenges throughout Greater High Point.
During the auction, ODM leadership reminded guests that the organization touches the lives of more than 21,000 individuals each year. But behind every number is a person with a unique story, a unique challenge, and the potential for a new beginning. “When our community comes together, those stories can have a different ending.” - Shared by Ross.
The evening also celebrated two individuals whose commitment exemplifies the spirit of service that Open Door Ministries seeks to foster throughout the community:
Mr. Douglas S. Witcher was honored as the 2026 John Yowell Good Samaritan Award recipient in recognition of his continued support of Open Door Ministries and his lasting impact throughout the Greater High Point community.
ODM also recognized Mr. Town as the 2026 Volunteer of the Year following an extraordinary 23 years of dedicated service to the organization. His decades of commitment reflect the vital role volunteers play in helping ODM serve its neighbors each day.
Open Door Ministries extends its sincere gratitude to the Lenny Peters Foundation, Bethany Medical, Jack & Audrey Harris, Mickey Truck Bodies, Vann York Chevrolet Buick GMC, Paul & Barbara Coughlin, all event sponsors, auction and raffle donors, vendors, volunteers, and guests who helped make the 2026 Masquerade Gala & Auction possible. Their generosity demonstrates the strength of a community committed to caring for its neighbors.
