💙🗣️ October is AAC Awareness Month! 🗣️💛

At Murphy Elementary, we believe that EVERY voice matters and EVERY student deserves to be heard! 🦁❤️

AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication, and it gives individuals who have difficulty communicating through speech another way to express their thoughts, feelings, and ideas! 💬✨

To celebrate AAC Awareness Month, one of our amazing Murphy students joined our speech-language pathologist for a special moment on our morning announcements, using her AAC device to communicate with our school! 🥹💕

We are so proud of her for sharing her voice with our Murphy family! 🌟

💙 Communication looks different for everyone, but every voice deserves to be heard, valued, and celebrated! 💛

🐔💻 CLICK, CLICK, CLICK! Our 2nd graders learned an important lesson about staying safe online! 🌐✨

In the Computer Lab, students read *Chicken Clicking* by Jeanne Willis and Tony Ross. 📖🐥

One night, Chick hops onto the farmer’s computer and—CLICK! 🖱️ Before long, she’s shopping online for the whole farm! 🛍️🐮🐷 But when Chick decides to meet a friend she made online, she quickly discovers that things aren’t always what they seem! 😲

🤔 Ask your 2nd grader what Chick found instead!

After the story, students put their internet safety skills to the test by sorting things they SHOULD ✅ and SHOULDN’T ❌ do online.

Learning how to be safe, smart, and responsible digital citizens! 💻🧠🌟
