The Summit County Engineer's Office is updating the requirements for obtaining a permit to work within the County-owned right-of-way.

The Engineer's Office has drafted a set of updated rules & regulations and hope to receive input from the general public, utilities, local public safety officers, and township, village, and city officials.

Comments must be received by Saturday, November 7, 2026.

You can vote early in-person today until 5pm. Early voting resumes next week, Monday 10/12 - Friday 10/16 from 8:00am-5:00pm at 1050 E Tallmadge Ave in Akron.

🪪 Don't forget to bring acceptable voter ID. To vote in-person early or on Election Day, Ohio voters need ONE of the following:

• A valid, unexpired Driver's License or State ID issued by the State of Ohio,
• A U.S. Passport or U.S. Passport Card, or

This morning, members of Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro’s team attended the Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority 12th Annual Reach Higher Breakfast!

Assistant Chief of Staff and Director of Communications, Greta Johnson, shared opening remarks during the event, which celebrated this year’s theme, “Powering Possibility: The Green Light to Greatness.”

The morning also honored former AMHA Executive Director Anthony “Tony” O’Leary with the Community Excellence Award for his years of leadership and service. We were proud to have the Summit County Department of Job and Family Services sponsor this year’s breakfast in support of educational opportunities and resources for local children and families.

Thank you to AMHA and the Reach Opportunity Center for a wonderful morning! đź’š
