Trunk or Treat 4.0 was a real treat (see what I did there?)! This annual bash just keeps getting sweeter! We had trunks galore passing out candy, the best vendors like Up in Smokers Tacos and Kristy's Krisp Fizzy Drinks, a pumpkin patch, Scheeringa Farms' donuts, custom squishies to squish, a 5th grade Haunted Hallway that was to die for, and our Scholastic Book Fair because, everyone enjoys a good book! Now, it's time to kick back, relax, and enjoy these next 4 days of Fall Break!

Huge round of applause for our Top Lap Winners from Merkley’s very first Walk-A-Thon today! They earned themselves a custom shirt!

While we didn't run this as an official fundraiser, we do have a special goal in mind! We’re hoping to purchase a brand-new laminator for our staff so they can keep creating awesome classroom materials.

Tonight is Popcorn in the Park for the Kindegarten Class of 2039! Immediately after is Back to School Night. We are excited to get this year under way! Be sure to stop by the PTC table to see how you can get involved. Students can also take their chance at guessing how many gummy bears are in the jar to win a needoh!

🎉 Exciting News! 🎉

Our Highland community just got a little closer! For the first time, all Highland schools will be walking together in the Twilight Parade to celebrate unity and proudly represent the School Town of Highland as one community.

This event is open to all families who would like to participate and represent Highland. Be sure to sign up if you would like to walk in the parade with us! We are also searching for someone who would like to be the Merkley Mustang!

We have also created a community shirt that is available for purchase. The online store will close Sunday night. Please note that purchasing a shirt is not required to participate, everyone is welcome to wear Highland colors and join us.

We encourage all Highland teachers and staff to consider purchasing a shirt, even if they are not walking in the parade, as we hope to create a Highland Community Spirit Day in the future (pending all principal’s approval).

We are still recovering from our amazing Field Day yesterday! Students had a blast and we couldn't have this day if it wasnt for the help of parents and staff. Enjoy the photo dump of photos and have a wonderful 3 day weekend. 3 days left of school!

Yesterday our 5th graders along with the other 5th graders from Johnston, Southridge and Warren got together after school for an awesome hangout before they join forces at Highland Middle School. Meadows Park was the perfect spot to start this awesome tradition. Shout out to the 4 schools PTO/PTC for making this event happen. We are Highland Strong!

Last Day of Staff Appreciation and it did not disappoint! Breakfast provided by STOH School Board/Admin and lunch was Penn Station sandwiches! Dance routine competition winners, Mrs. Geffert and Mrs. Mako. Overall champions for participating this week were Mrs. Rodriguez, Miss Santiago and Miss Gallagher. Students also dressed like staff and check out the next Mr. McMahon!
We are extremely grateful for our Merkley Teachers and staff not just this week but everyday! We wish we could have staff appreciation everyday or at least just the fun challenges we make them do!

Day 4 of Staff Appreciation was a slam dunk! Yummy pizza from Danny Z's and custard from Culver's to make sundaes. Staff participated in a fun basketball partner relay and bracket. Winner winner chicken dinner for Mrs. Geffert, Miss Santiago and Mrs. Reyes. Looking forward to another fantastic day tomorrow.

Side note Mrs. Torres ventured out and picked up all the Nothing Bundt Cakes! Orders have been filled and will be ready for pick up tomorrow.

Day 3 was a home run! Biscuits n gravy from Merkley parent, Kristy V., and Fuzzyline provided some yummy salad, taters and hot dogs! Fun challenges had by all today! Check out some of the videos in the comments.
