Some of you might have seen Doniphan County Emergency Management post about the training DCFD #2 hosted in Highland. I also borrowed a couple pics from their post.

DCFD #2 hosted the KU Fire and Rescue Training Institutes, Grain Engulfment Rescue Class, on Sat., Sept. 12, 2026. All five Doniphan County Fire Districts were represented, along with Hiawatha Fire and Shawnee Heights Fire, there were also some EMS personnel and Police representation. There was a short presentation first thing in the morning, then hands-on training for the rest of the day. Using KFRTI's custom training trailer, there were two different bin setups that we rotated through. As you can see in the pictures one was an open top bin which allowed more responders to view the rescue, have the victims legs in different positions (not all entrapment's does the patient go straight down), different scenarios, and get more repetitions in. The other was an enclosed bin, which required technical rescue, so we could see how it might be inside an actual bin, with a limited opening to get rescuers and rescue equipment down to the victim(s). Thanks everyone that came out and Kansas Fire & Rescue Training Institute for providing this training.
