Kindness is everywhere at HES! For Feel Good Friday, our students spread positivity by leaving encouraging notes around the building - on the counselor's door, in the hallways, and by the stairs. Messages like "You matter," "You got this!" and "Never give up" were there to brighten someone's day. We also celebrated being recognized as a Distinguished Kindness School by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation! Thank you, Mr. DiLorenzo, for leading this kindness activity!

Calling all Osprey artists! 🎨📘 Our Yearbook Cover Contest is back, and this year students in ALL grades can enter! Grades 3–6 will get some time in Enrichment, and everyone is welcome to create an entry at home. The winning design goes on the front of the 2026–2027 yearbook!

🟢 Shrek The Musical KIDS is coming to Highlands Elementary! ✨ The HES Drama Club (grades 2–6) is holding auditions Wednesday, Oct 28 and Thursday, Oct 29 after school. Performances are Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24, 2027!

How to get started:

Sweet treats, silly faces, and pumpkins with personality! 🍦🎃🍂 Our hallways are bursting with color thanks to our amazing young artists. Our kindergarteners created pastel ice cream art, our preschoolers made adorable "Funny Faces" portraits and "Pumpkins with Personality" (each with its own story!), and our first graders created beautiful Fall Landscapes in pastel. A big shoutout to our wonderful art teacher, Mrs. Northrop, for guiding our Osprey artists and filling our school with creativity! 🎨✨

In honor of National College and Career Exploration Week, our Student Council is hosting a Career Exploration Day to show our students all the amazing possibilities waiting for them in the future! We’d love to have you come in and share what you do.

Event Details:

🗓 Friday, November 20th | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📍 Highlands Elementary School Gym
💼 Set up a display table and present your career as students rotate through the gym.

A big thank you to our HES Climate Committee for organizing a little back-to-school staff meet-up last week! 💙💛 Great food, great conversations, and a great way to kick off the year together. We're lucky to have a team that makes time for each other. Go Ospreys!

Thank you to everyone who helped make our Back to School Night such a wonderful success! From our dedicated teachers, staff, and PTO to the community organizations, local scout troop, and historical society, your time and effort created a warm, welcoming environment for all of our families. We are so grateful for our vibrant school community and look forward to an incredible school year ahead!
