October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Hildale City recognizes October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

On October 7, 2026, Hildale City, in partnership with the State of Utah and Cherish Families, issued an official proclamation recognizing the importance of raising awareness, breaking the silence, and working together to end domestic violence in our community.

Domestic violence affects individuals and families across all ages, backgrounds, and circumstances. Its impact reaches beyond those directly experiencing abuse, affecting children, families, and entire communities.

Every person deserves to live a life free from violence and abuse.

As a community, we have an opportunity to listen, learn, support one another, and help create an environment where those experiencing domestic violence know they are not alone.

Hildale City encourages all residents to use this month to learn more about domestic violence, recognize its impact, and understand how we can work together to help prevent abuse.

We extend our appreciation to Cherish Families and those who dedicate their time and efforts to supporting individuals and families affected by domestic violence.

Together, through awareness, compassion, and collaboration, we can continue working toward a safer community for everyone.

WELCOME TO THE HILDALE CITY FAMILY!

Strong communities are built upon the willingness of individuals to step forward, accept responsibility, and serve in positions of trust.

Hildale City is pleased to recognize the official swearing in of Saxon Broadbent as Deputy Recorder.

The Office of the City Recorder plays an important role in maintaining public records, supporting the work of local government, and helping ensure transparency, accuracy, and accountability in the services we provide to our community.

While much of this work takes place quietly behind the scenes, it is an important part of keeping our city government organized, accessible, and serving the needs of our residents.

We appreciate Saxon's willingness to take on this responsibility and become part of the dedicated team of individuals who serve Hildale City.

Every position within our city contributes to the work we do together, and we look forward to the contributions Saxon will bring to this role.

On behalf of Hildale City, we extend our congratulations to Saxon Broadbent on being sworn in as Deputy Recorder.

Please join us in congratulating Saxon and welcoming him to the Hildale City family!

Congratulations, Saxon!

There is a special sense of pride in our community when we look towards El Capitan and see the American flag flying high above us. It has become a powerful symbol of the freedoms we cherish, the strength and unity of our community, and all that we have accomplished together. Flying that flag is more than a tradition. It is our way of honoring our country, our freedoms, and the flag itself. We are deeply proud to see it flying over the community we call home.

Keeping the flag flying requires tremendous dedication. Several times each year harsh winds and severe weather take their toll and the flag must be replaced. Bruce Barlow has taken on the responsibility of ensuring that this happens. He raises the funds needed to purchase each new flag, organizes a committed team of volunteers, and joins them in making the difficult climb to the top of El Capitan to replace it.

This is no small undertaking yet year after year Bruce and his team continue this work not for recognition but because they understand what the flag represents to us all.

Today we honor Bruce Barlow for his leadership, dedication, and countless hours of service. We also recognize the remarkable team that climbs alongside him, helping ensure that our flag continues to fly proudly above our community. Their commitment reflects the very best of our community spirit and we are grateful for all they do.

Strong communities are built when people are willing to step forward, give their time, share their talents, and work together to create something that brings people together.

The Hildale City Council is proud to recognize the SC Festivities Board Members, Team Leads, and Volunteers for their dedication, service, and continued commitment to creating opportunities for our communities to gather, celebrate, and strengthen the relationships that connect us.

SC Festivities began in 2015 with a simple but important purpose: to bring the community together again. After 13 years without a community wide celebration, a group of volunteers came together to organize a Fourth of July celebration. What began with hopes that a few hundred people might attend brought thousands of people together and helped begin a tradition that has continued to grow for more than a decade.

Today, SC Festivities brings together thousands of residents, families, visitors, businesses, organizations, and volunteers from Hildale, Colorado City, Centennial Park, and the surrounding area. From the parade and community breakfast to activities, entertainment, vendors, watermelon, fireworks, and everything in between, the celebration has become a tradition that many families look forward to year after year.

What the community sees on the Fourth of July represents only a small part of what it takes to make it happen.

Behind the celebration are board members who spend months planning and preparing, team leads who accept responsibility for individual areas, and volunteers who step forward wherever they are needed. They cook, organize, set up, clean up, direct traffic, coordinate activities, move equipment, solve problems, and give countless hours of their time so thousands of others can simply come and enjoy the day.

Many of those acts of service happen quietly. There are no spotlights and often very little recognition. Yet every person who gives an hour, accepts an assignment, carries a table, serves a meal, cleans up afterward, or simply asks, “Where do you need me?” becomes part of something much larger.

SC Festivities is more than a celebration. It creates a space where neighbors reconnect, families make memories, friendships are strengthened, and people with different experiences and backgrounds can stand together and remember what we share.

It takes all of us working together to build the kind of community we are proud to call home. Today we recognize the SC Festivities Board Members, Team Leads, and Volunteers for the countless hours, willing hands, and generous hearts they have given in service to our communities.

Thank you for carrying this tradition forward, for creating memories that will last for generations, and for continuing to remind us what can happen when a community chooses to come together.

Strong communities are built when individuals step forward with a willingness to contribute, participate, and help create spaces where people feel they belong.

The Hildale City Council is proud to recognize Mardi Holm for her outstanding dedication to the youth and families of our community. For the past four years, Mardi has devoted countless volunteer hours to organizing and leading the HOOPS youth basketball program, creating opportunities for children to learn, grow, and connect through athletics.

Her commitment extends far beyond scheduling games and practices. She has worked tirelessly to recruit volunteer coaches and referees, build community involvement, and foster an environment where youth can develop confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

In addition to her leadership with HOOPS, Mardi has been a strong supporter of the Creek Valley Condors Mountain Biking program and, through her work at Creek Valley Health Care Clinic, continually promotes health, wellness, and positive opportunities for young people.

Mardi’s love for our youth, her passion for community, and her selfless service exemplify the spirit of volunteerism that makes Hildale and our communities a stronger and more connected place.

We are grateful for her unwavering commitment and proud to recognize her contributions to our community.

Strong communities are built upon the willingness of individuals to step forward and serve in roles that often happen quietly behind the scenes but are essential to the work of local government.

Today, Hildale City recognizes the appointment of Lisa Timpson as Deputy Treasurer. Through her dedication and willingness to serve, Lisa has demonstrated a commitment to the important responsibilities that help keep our city operating effectively.

The role of Deputy Treasurer carries significant responsibility. It requires integrity, attention to detail, and a commitment to public service. Working alongside Treasurer Bistline, Lisa has spent time learning the duties and responsibilities of the position and has prepared herself to carry out those responsibilities on behalf of the residents of Hildale.

The work of local government depends upon individuals who are willing to contribute their time, knowledge, and talents in service to their community. These roles often take place behind the scenes, yet they are essential to maintaining transparency, accountability, and the day-to-day operations that residents rely upon.

On behalf of Hildale City, we congratulate Lisa Timpson on her appointment as Deputy Treasurer and express our appreciation for her willingness to serve. We look forward to her continued contributions as she helps support the financial stewardship and operations of our city.

Please join us in congratulating Lisa Timpson as she begins this new chapter of public service to the Hildale community.

Strong communities are sustained by the businesses and individuals who choose to invest their time, resources, and hard work in the place they call home.

Ticker Automotive, under the leadership of Virgil Barlow and with the support of its dedicated crew, has been a trusted part of our community on the Utah-Arizona border for over 25 years. As a family-owned and operated business serving Hildale, Colorado City, and surrounding areas, Ticker Automotive has built lasting relationships through service, reliability, and commitment to its customers.

Operating a local business is no small task. It requires perseverance, sacrifice, and a willingness to continue serving even through changing times and economic challenges. Local businesses do more than provide services. They create jobs, strengthen communities, and contribute to the quality of life we all enjoy.

Council Member Dutson expressed appreciation for Ticker Automotive's continued service and recognized the challenges that come with sustaining a local business. Through those challenges, Ticker Automotive has remained committed to serving the community while providing a safe and enjoyable workplace for its employees.

Accepting the award on behalf of the team, Virgil Barlow expressed gratitude to the community for its continued trust and patronage, reaffirming the company's commitment to addressing customer concerns and providing outstanding quality service.

It takes all of us working together to build the kind of community we are proud to call home. Today we recognize Virgil Barlow and the crew of Ticker Automotive for their dedication, perseverance, and their continued investment in the people and communities of Hildale, Colorado City, and the surrounding area. Thank you for helping make our community stronger.
