Love seeing Hill Aerospace Museum featured on Explore Utah! ✈️ Come visit us and explore the incredible history of Hill Air Force Base and Utah Aviation! 🇺🇸. 😁😉

This place sits in northern Utah, right beside an active Air Force base. Yet you don't need base access to get in. I like how it skips the hassle and hands you history at full scale.

📜
During World War II, Hill Field reached a peak of more than 22,000 employees—approximately 16,000 civilians and 6,000 military personnel.
To accommodate this rapidly growing workforce, several government-funded communities were developed to house workers and their families.
One of them was Verdeland Park in Layton, Utah.

🎃 In this photo from Hill AFB archives, children from Verdeland Park dress up for Halloween: a little glimpse into what life looked like for the families who called these wartime communities home.

🌟 Volunteer Spotlight: Larry Baer! 🌟

We want to shine a little light on one of our amazing volunteers, Larry Baer!
Larry joined the Museum team in January 2024 after moving to Utah following his retirement. His favorite part of volunteering at the Museum? Getting to interact with his fellow volunteers!

Larry is known for his genuine warmth and kindness toward our guests and everyone around him. Recently, he reached an incredible milestone: 1,000 volunteer hours at the Museum! 🎉

If you see Larry during your next visit, be sure to stop and say hello. Thank you, Larry, for all the time, energy, and heart you bring to the Museum! ❤️✈️

Did you know that Hill Air Force Base personnel began maintenance and overhaul activities for the A-10 back in the 1990s? In that same decade, the A-10 System Program Office began operating out of Hill and it provided cradle-to-grave weapon system management.

Come see the A-10 on Friday between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Chat with our fabulous Museum volunteers on hand to answer your questions and shine a spotlight (literally!) on this incredible aircraft.
