City of Hilliard, Ohio - Government Welcome to the City of Hilliard, Ohio official government page. Talk to us! We're listening.

Hilliard is a thriving community to nearly 40,000 citizens located in the greater Columbus metro area. Residents and corporate citizens enjoy dependable city and safety services, a highly rated public school system, scenic parks and trails, terrific recreational programs, and a variety of safe and attractive neighborhoods. Situated just west of the Scioto River along I-270, Hilliard is only a 15 to 20-minute commute to downtown Columbus. With roots that began as a village built around the railroad station in 1869, Hilliard has grown to be a city full of local pride and history. The original train station has been restored and remains in historical Weaver Park, located in downtown Hilliard. It is an exciting time for Hilliard with recent additions such as the Bo Jackson Elite Sports Facility, the second largest First Responders Park in the U.S. and Hilliard’s Station Park that offers an amphitheater, splash pad and year-round events for the community. Our proud heritage and promising future make Hilliard a top community in central Ohio!

🚧 28 streets are getting a little rejuvenation! ✨

Starting Friday, Oct. 9, the City will begin work on approximately 28 local streets as part of a pavement preservation project designed to protect, strengthen and extend the life of our existing roads.

Think of it as a little TLC for our streets β€” helping keep them in good shape for years to come. πŸ’ͺ

You'll see crews working throughout the following week, and there will be some temporary traffic impacts while the treatment is applied. The good news? Vehicles can typically return to the roadway within about an hour. πŸš—

⚠️ SCAM ALERT: Watch for fraudulent City invoices

We're warning residents and businesses about a scam targeting people who have applied for a variance through the City of Hilliard's Planning Department.

Because information about upcoming cases and public hearings is available online, scammers are using that information to contact applicants with fake invoices that appear to come from the City of Hilliard.

The fraudulent notices may say payment is required before a case can be heard and instruct recipients to send money by wire transfer.

🚨 Here's what you need to know:
The City of Hilliard will NEVER ask you to pay a filing fee by wire transfer.

If you apply online via OpenGov, you may receive a legitimate email with instructions for paying your filing fee. However, the City does not send invoices demanding payment by wire transfer.

If you receive a suspicious invoice, email or payment request:
➑️ Do not send money
➑️ Do not respond to the request
➑️ Contact the City of Hilliard Planning Department directly at 614-334-2444 to verify the request.

πŸ“„ The image below is an example of a fraudulent invoice. Please share this warning with anyone who may be applying for a variance or other Planning Department service.
