Taking care of our own. โค๏ธ
We're proud to see Norwich Township Fire Department featured in the National Registry of EMTs' latest ๐๐ณ๐ช๐ต๐ช๐ค๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ค๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ด story, highlighting Battalion Chief Heith Good and the importance of mental health and peer support in the fire and EMS service.
Our crews see and experience a lot, and having people you can turn to makes all the difference. We're fortunate to have people who recognize the importance of looking out for one another and continue to make that a priority here at Norwich.
A big thank you to the National Registry of EMTs for helping share this important story and bringing more attention to a conversation that matters.
When the call comes in, firefighters and EMS Clinicians move toward the chaos to help others. But what happens when the people running toward the emergency are carrying a heavy weight of their own?
Chief Heith Good and the Norwich Township (Ohio) Fire Department are actively changing the conversation around mental health and peer support. By building a culture of trust and active listening, they are ensuring that their team members have a safe place to turn when difficult calls begin to stack up. Chief Good wants to remind everyone in the fire and emergency medical services professions that strength does not require silence, and needing help does not diminish a person's ability to care for others.
