Sheriff Sanders is pleased to introduce Project Lifesaver International to the citizens of Highland County.
Project Lifesaver International is a premier international search-and-rescue program operated by public safety agencies to assist at-risk individuals who may wander or elope due to autism, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or other cognitive conditions. The program's primary mission is to provide a rapid response that helps save lives and reduce the risk of injury.
To bring this valuable service to Highland County, five deputies from the Highland County Sheriff's Office recently completed specialized training with a Project Lifesaver International instructor and are now certified search specialists.
Families who have a loved one who may benefit from this program are encouraged to learn more about enrollment. For additional information or to enroll a participant, please get in touch with Chief Deputy Jennifer Schinkal by email at [email protected] or by phone at (937) 840-6237.
If you have a loved one in the program and they are missing, please call 911 immediately; do not call the number provided for information. Our dispatchers are trained to handle a 911 call regarding a missing person in the program.
The Highland County Sheriff's Office is proud to offer this important resource and remains committed to enhancing the safety and well-being of our community.
