Honoring Our Veterans. Celebrating Their Service to Hillsboro and Our Nation.
Our veterans are an important part of the Hillsboro community. They're our neighbors, family members and friends whose service and sacrifices deserve our deepest gratitude.

Hillsboro Junior High School invites all veterans to join us for a special Veterans Day Tribute Assembly as our students and staff come together to honor those who have served.

Tuesday, November 10, 2026
Hillsboro Junior High School
- 8–9:20 a.m. – Veterans Breakfast in the Junior High Cafeteria
- 9:30 a.m. – Veterans Day Tribute Assembly in the Junior High Gymnasium
All veterans are welcome!

This is more than an assembly. It's an opportunity for our students to personally thank the men and women who have served and better understand the sacrifices made to protect our freedoms.

We hope you'll join us for this meaningful tribute.

WHAT HAPPENS WITH PROPOSITION H?

What could the outcome of Proposition H mean for Hillsboro R-3 families, students and staff?

With more than $2.1 million in actual and projected state funding reductions and shortfalls, the district is facing financial decisions that could affect transportation, athletics, educational programs, staffing and other services.

If Proposition H is approved:
The district would receive additional local operating revenue to help address funding shortfalls, maintain existing programs and services, and complete the proposed school safety and facility improvements.

If Proposition H is not approved:
The district would need to evaluate additional spending reductions and changes to programs and services. Proposed facility improvements would not move forward.

Some anticipated changes could begin during the 2026-27 school year, with additional reductions under consideration for 2027-28. Not all changes are final.

What could this mean for your family?

Superintendent Dr. Jon Isaacson has outlined the financial challenges and potential changes in a letter to families, students and staff.

We encourage everyone in the Hillsboro community to read the information and understand both possible outcomes before the Nov. 3 election.

SENIOR CITIZENS: THIS IS IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PROPOSITION H!

Did you know that senior homeowners who already receive Jefferson County's Senior Property Tax Credit and continue to qualify would NOT see an increase in their school property taxes as a result of Proposition H?

That's an important distinction, especially for retirees and those living on a fixed income.

Why? Proposition H involves an operating tax levy, NOT a bond or debt levy. Jefferson County's Senior Property Tax Credit covers qualifying increases in school operating taxes.

We encourage you to read this important information and share it with your parents, grandparents, neighbors and friends. Many residents may not realize how the Senior Property Tax Credit applies to Proposition H.

The Jefferson County Superintendent's Association, encompassing the 11 public school superintendents, released this joint letter on Thursday, October 22, 2026.

Dear families, staff, and community members of Jefferson County Public Schools,

Jefferson County school districts are projected to receive approximately $11 million less in state funding for the 2026–2027 school year than they would receive if Missouri fully funded its school funding formula.

These estimated funding shortfalls affect public school districts throughout Jefferson County and represent revenue that would otherwise be available to support educational programs, staffing, student services, and daily school operations.
Estimated State Funding Shortfalls by School District:

Crystal City 47: $226,000
Hillsboro R-III: $1,458,000
DeSoto 73: $1,057,000
Jefferson County R-VII: $240,000
Dunklin R-V: $746,000
Northwest R-I: $1,951,000
Festus R-VI: $1,353,000
Sunrise R-IX: $170,000
Fox C-6: $2,300,000
Windsor C-1: $1,230,000
Grandview R-II: $ 360,000

Figures reflect estimated funding shortfalls for Fiscal Year 2027 (2026–2027 school year) and are rounded to the nearest $1,000. Total Estimated Funding Shortfall for Jefferson County School Districts: $11,000,000.

As Superintendents and leaders of your local school districts, we want to share an important concern with you regarding the funding for public education within the state of Missouri.
We are asking our families, staff, community members, businesses, and local organizations to stand with our schools and advocate for full funding for public education. Our students deserve the resources they need to learn, grow, and prepare for their futures. Currently, the State is allowing a $300 million shortfall in Missouri Public Education. The public school districts in Jefferson County serve approximately 34,800 total students across the 11 public school districts.

The Missouri Legislature has the ability to provide additional funding and fully support public education. We encourage you to contact your state legislators and ask them to support full funding for our schools. We also encourage you to contact your local Superintendent if you would like more information about how these funding decisions may affect your school district. Our Governor and/or the Legislature can restore funding for schools in the coming months, but they will only do so if everyone advocates for this together.

At the September State Board meeting, the State Board of Education chose not to request full funding for public education. If this funding is not restored, our local school districts could face significant financial losses. These cuts could affect the services and opportunities we provide to students and families in our communities.

We strive to manage our budgets responsibly and will continue to do so. Our Districts maintain fund balances to meet payroll and other obligations throughout the year, respond to unexpected costs, and plan responsibly for future needs. These funds are not a permanent solution for replacing recurring state revenue. Continued reductions in state funding will eventually require districts to make difficult long-term decisions about programs, staffing, services, and other priorities.

At times like this, it is important to remember that our schools and our communities depend on each other. Our schools are stronger because of the support of our communities, and our communities are stronger because of our schools.

For generations, we have worked together to help one another. When floods and tornadoes have affected our communities, our schools have opened their doors to provide safe places for people. When families have faced the unimaginable loss of a loved one, our communities have come together to provide care and support. Local businesses, families, and organizations have donated time and resources to support our students, including helping provide food for children on weekends. These are more than acts of kindness. They show what makes our communities strong: we take care of one another.

Now, our public schools need that same support.
Our schools are part of the foundation of our communities. When we support our schools, we support our students, our families, and the future of our communities.
Thank you for standing with our schools and for continuing to show what is possible when our communities work together.
Over 30,000 students are counting on us.

Award-Winning Experiences. Opportunities That Last a Lifetime!

How many school districts can say they offer students experiences like those found at The Farm at Hillsboro R-3?

We're proud to share that Hillsboro R-3 earned an Award of Excellence from the Missouri School Public Relations Association (MOSPRA) for showcasing the unique opportunities like "Pioneer Day" available to our students at The Farm!

From hands-on activities to unforgettable experiences, The Farm is one more example of what makes Hillsboro R-3 a Destination District.

It's more than a farm. It's an opportunity to create memories, build skills and discover new possibilities.

Congrats to Patrick Quinn with Hillsboro on his 2026 Award of Excellence! Patrick earned a win in the One-Person Video category for his submission entitled "Pioneer Day at Bridle Ridge Acres Farm 2026."

Hillsboro students didn’t just learn about Pioneer Days; they lived it. After several weeks of learning in the classroom, fourth-grade students took their knowledge to the next level at Bridle Ridge Acres Farm!
