🌹 A NEW CHAPTER — INTRODUCING JERICHO ROSE HOMES
We are pleased to officially announce that Hope Harbor is now Jericho Rose Homes!
Our new name represents a renewed commitment to providing safe, structured, Christ-centered sober living transitional housing for individuals working toward lasting recovery and independence.
As we begin this new chapter, we want to share who we are, what has changed, and our vision for the future.
Our Organization and Leadership
Jericho Rose Homes is a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating under its own Board of Directors.
Although formerly known as Hope Harbor, Jericho Rose Homes is no longer involved in the operations at 386 W. Carleton Road, the former Hope Harbor location. Our organization is separate from Hillsdale Community Thrift (HCT), its leadership, and its current operations.
Our focus is establishing our first sober living transitional home on Westwood Street, with a commitment to accountability, transparency, responsible stewardship, and being a good neighbor.
Why a Home for Men First?
We recognize the need for safe, supportive recovery housing for both men and women.
Before deciding whom our first home would serve, we researched available sober living resources and unmet needs in our community.
Our research indicated that existing women’s sober living homes across the state have available capacity, while the greatest unmet need in our community is currently for men’s sober living housing.
For that reason, our first home will serve men.
Our vision also includes opening a separate sober living home for women once we secure the financial resources necessary to establish and sustain it responsibly.
We believe thoughtful growth means meeting the greatest needs first while building a strong foundation for future expansion.
Our Commitment to Recovery Housing Standards
Jericho Rose Homes intends to pursue certification through the Michigan Association of Recovery Residences (MARR), which evaluates recovery housing programs according to established standards for safety, accountability, recovery support, and responsible operations.
MARR requires a recovery residence to be operational for at least 30 days before applying for certification.
We plan to submit our application once we have completed those required 30 days of operation.
Our plans for separate men’s and women’s residences also reflect our commitment to providing appropriate, structured, gender-specific recovery housing.
We believe accountability and independent review are important parts of establishing a trusted recovery residence.
Understanding Our Funding Request
We also want to clarify an important point regarding the funding we are requesting from the Hillsdale County Board of Commissioners.
We are requesting funding from the county’s opioid settlement funds—not from local property taxes or the county’s ordinary taxpayer-funded operating budget.
These funds originate from legal settlements with opioid manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacies. They are intended to help communities address the devastating effects of the opioid epidemic through prevention, treatment, recovery support, and other approved services.
Recovery housing is among the recognized uses of opioid settlement funds, subject to applicable requirements.
Our request is intended to help establish and sustain safe, structured sober living transitional housing for individuals working toward lasting recovery.
While these funds do not originate from local tax collections, we recognize that they are public funds entrusted to county officials. We believe they should be used responsibly, transparently, and with appropriate oversight and that is the case in Hillsdale. Our funding request has undergone extensive review by the county’s Opioid Committee, which determined that our organization meets the applicable guidelines and referred our request to the Hillsdale County Board of Commissioners for consideration.
While the committee’s referral does not constitute funding approval, it represents an important step in the process. The final funding decision rests with the county commissioners.
We are grateful for the opportunity to present our plans, answer questions, and demonstrate our commitment to responsible stewardship and accountability.
Our goal is to work alongside Hillsdale County in putting opioid settlement funds to work right here in our local community—addressing the harm caused by addiction, helping restore lives, strengthen families, and create opportunities for lasting recovery.
Building Trust. Serving Neighbors. Reflecting Christ.
This is more than just a motto. This is our promise to the community we serve.
We understand that trust is earned through actions, not simply words.
We are grateful for the encouragement we have received as we have worked to improve the house and neighborhood in which we will reside, and we recognize that our neighbors and community members may have questions. Our home on Westwood street has the occupancy permits necessary to begin the important work set before us.
Our commitment is to operate with integrity, compassion, accountability, and respect for the community we serve.
We look forward to building meaningful relationships, working alongside community partners, and helping individuals build stable, sober, independent lives.
Thank you for believing in recovery, restoration, and second chances.
