🏡 Getting to Know Jericho Rose Homes — Part 6
Why does Hillsdale county need sober living?

Over the past week, we’ve shared information about who we are, what we’re building, and why we believe this ministry is needed in Hillsdale County.

We’ve also listened to your questions and concerns, and we appreciate everyone who has taken the time to be part of the conversation.

As we conclude this series, we want to leave you with one thought:

Recovery doesn’t happen overnight, and neither does rebuilding a life.

We believe people deserve the opportunity to do both, with encouragement, accountability, and a community that believes lasting change is possible.

Our commitment to transparency and communication doesn’t end with this series. We’ll continue sharing our progress, answering questions, and working to earn the trust of the community we plan to serve.

❤️ Help us spread the word!

If you haven’t already, we invite you to follow our page and share it with your friends and family. Every follow and share helps us reach more people, build community awareness, and connect with those who may need the hope and support Jericho Rose Homes hopes to provide.

Thank you for getting to know Jericho Rose Homes and for being part of this journey! 🌹

• One Day at a Time: Recovery does not require fixing an entire lifetime at once; it only asks for focus on the present 24 hours.
• Connection Over Isolation: The program moves addicts from lonely isolation to a sense of belonging.

🌹 GETTING TO KNOW JERICHO ROSE HOMES: YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

We’ve received some thoughtful questions from members of our community, and we believe those questions deserve honest, straightforward answers!

Over the next several days, we’ll be sharing a four-part series, with each post addressing a different question about Jericho Rose Homes, our mission, and our commitment to our residents and neighbors.

You’ll recognize each post by its matching design, but each day will feature a new question and answer!

We hope this series helps you get to know us a little better, and we welcome your questions along the way.

Because building trust begins with open communication. ❤️

🌹 JERICHO ROSE HOMES — AN UPDATE ON OUR JOURNEY

Yesterday, Jericho Rose Homes appeared before the Hillsdale County Board of Commissioners regarding our request for opioid settlement funding to support the opening and operation of our sober living transitional home.

The commissioners have directed us to return to the county’s opioid committee for an additional presentation on November 17.

While we had hoped for a decision, we respect the review process and will continue working to provide the information necessary for our request to be considered.

Our mission remains unchanged.

We believe that recovery doesn’t end when treatment does. Men who have worked hard to achieve sobriety deserve an opportunity to build stable, healthy, independent lives in a safe and accountable environment.

These men aren’t looking for a handout. They need a hand up.

In the meantime, we will continue preparing our home, strengthening our partnerships, developing our programs, and building relationships with our neighbors.

However, we want to be clear that Jericho Rose Homes will not begin accepting residents or open for operation until we have secured the funding necessary to operate safely, responsibly, and sustainably.

We are committed to doing this the right way, even if that means waiting a little longer than we had hoped.

We are grateful for the encouragement, thoughtful questions, and conversations we’ve had with members of our community.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support as we take these next steps.

🌹 Meet the Board of Directors of Jericho Rose Homes

Many hands. One mission. All for His glory.

Behind Jericho Rose Homes is a group of individuals who have come together with a shared commitment to faith, service, and the belief that lives can be restored.

We would like to introduce our Board of Directors:

🌹 Keri Stewart — President
🌹 Leon Rogers — Vice President
🌹 Cathy Brown — Secretary
🌹 Larry Wilson — Treasurer
🌹 Gerry Brown — Director
🌹 Anissa Wilson — Director

Each brings different experiences, perspectives, and gifts to the table. But what unites us is far more important than any title we hold.

Jericho Rose Homes is not about any one individual, any position, or any recognition. It is about serving others.

Our mission is to provide Christ-centered sober living transitional housing where individuals working toward lasting recovery can find stability, accountability, encouragement, and hope for a different future.

We believe every person has value, every life matters, and no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace.

We also recognize that this ministry is bigger than our board. It takes a community of people willing to pray, encourage, support, partner, and walk alongside those rebuilding their lives.

Our responsibility as board members is to be faithful stewards of the opportunities, resources, and trust entrusted to us. We are here to serve, not to be served.

If Jericho Rose Homes succeeds, may the recognition never rest on the names of those leading it, but on the lives being changed and the God who makes restoration possible.

We are grateful for the opportunity to be a small part of what God is doing, and we look forward to serving our Neighbors and the Hillsdale County community.

“Not to us, LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory.” — Psalm 115:1

🌹 A NEW CHAPTER — INTRODUCING JERICHO ROSE HOMES

We are pleased to officially announce that Hope Harbor is now Jericho Rose Homes!

Our new name represents a renewed commitment to providing safe, structured, Christ-centered sober living transitional housing for individuals working toward lasting recovery and independence.

As we begin this new chapter, we want to share who we are, what has changed, and our vision for the future.

Our Organization and Leadership

Jericho Rose Homes is a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating under its own Board of Directors.

Although formerly known as Hope Harbor, Jericho Rose Homes is no longer involved in the operations at 386 W. Carleton Road, the former Hope Harbor location. Our organization is separate from Hillsdale Community Thrift (HCT), its leadership, and its current operations.

Our focus is establishing our first sober living transitional home on Westwood Street, with a commitment to accountability, transparency, responsible stewardship, and being a good neighbor.

Why a Home for Men First?

We recognize the need for safe, supportive recovery housing for both men and women.

Before deciding whom our first home would serve, we researched available sober living resources and unmet needs in our community.

Our research indicated that existing women’s sober living homes across the state have available capacity, while the greatest unmet need in our community is currently for men’s sober living housing.

For that reason, our first home will serve men.

Our vision also includes opening a separate sober living home for women once we secure the financial resources necessary to establish and sustain it responsibly.

We believe thoughtful growth means meeting the greatest needs first while building a strong foundation for future expansion.

Our Commitment to Recovery Housing Standards

Jericho Rose Homes intends to pursue certification through the Michigan Association of Recovery Residences (MARR), which evaluates recovery housing programs according to established standards for safety, accountability, recovery support, and responsible operations.

MARR requires a recovery residence to be operational for at least 30 days before applying for certification.

We plan to submit our application once we have completed those required 30 days of operation.

Our plans for separate men’s and women’s residences also reflect our commitment to providing appropriate, structured, gender-specific recovery housing.

We believe accountability and independent review are important parts of establishing a trusted recovery residence.

Understanding Our Funding Request

We also want to clarify an important point regarding the funding we are requesting from the Hillsdale County Board of Commissioners.

We are requesting funding from the county’s opioid settlement funds—not from local property taxes or the county’s ordinary taxpayer-funded operating budget.

These funds originate from legal settlements with opioid manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacies. They are intended to help communities address the devastating effects of the opioid epidemic through prevention, treatment, recovery support, and other approved services.

Recovery housing is among the recognized uses of opioid settlement funds, subject to applicable requirements.

Our request is intended to help establish and sustain safe, structured sober living transitional housing for individuals working toward lasting recovery.

While these funds do not originate from local tax collections, we recognize that they are public funds entrusted to county officials. We believe they should be used responsibly, transparently, and with appropriate oversight and that is the case in Hillsdale. Our funding request has undergone extensive review by the county’s Opioid Committee, which determined that our organization meets the applicable guidelines and referred our request to the Hillsdale County Board of Commissioners for consideration.

While the committee’s referral does not constitute funding approval, it represents an important step in the process. The final funding decision rests with the county commissioners.

We are grateful for the opportunity to present our plans, answer questions, and demonstrate our commitment to responsible stewardship and accountability.

Our goal is to work alongside Hillsdale County in putting opioid settlement funds to work right here in our local community—addressing the harm caused by addiction, helping restore lives, strengthen families, and create opportunities for lasting recovery.

Building Trust. Serving Neighbors. Reflecting Christ.
This is more than just a motto. This is our promise to the community we serve.

We understand that trust is earned through actions, not simply words.

We are grateful for the encouragement we have received as we have worked to improve the house and neighborhood in which we will reside, and we recognize that our neighbors and community members may have questions. Our home on Westwood street has the occupancy permits necessary to begin the important work set before us.

Our commitment is to operate with integrity, compassion, accountability, and respect for the community we serve.

We look forward to building meaningful relationships, working alongside community partners, and helping individuals build stable, sober, independent lives.

Thank you for believing in recovery, restoration, and second chances.
