It's spooky season, so we need to know…

What would scare a firefighter MOST? πŸ‘»

A) An empty coffee pot β˜•
B) A tangled hose 😱
C) Someone saying, 'I watched a YouTube video...I got this.' πŸ˜‚
D) The pager going off the SECOND dinner is ready 🍽️

Firefighters, we expect your answers too. πŸ‘‡

πŸ”₯ Before you light that first fire, make sure your chimney and wood stove pipes are ready!

Be sure to have chimneys and stove pipes inspected and cleaned by a qualified professional before use this season. Built-up creosote, debris, and animal nests can create a fire hazard.

A little preparation now can help protect your home and family all winter long. β€οΈπŸš’

It's getting darker earlier, which means this reminder is even more important:

CAN WE FIND YOUR HOUSE?

If you live on a rural road or down a long driveway, make sure your address numbers are clearly visible from the road...DAY and NIGHT.

Reflective numbers can save precious time when we're trying to find you during an emergency.

When seconds count, help us find you. β€οΈπŸš’

Ever wondered what it's like to put on firefighter gear?

Helmet. Coat. Pants. Boots. Gloves. Hood. Air pack. Mask. And then add whatever tools we're carrying. πŸ˜…

It's heavy, hot, and definitely not designed for comfort, but every piece has a job to do.

Want us to do a video showing everything a firefighter puts on before entering a fire? πŸš’πŸ‘‡

Fire pit + cool fall evening = pretty hard to beat. πŸ”₯πŸ‚

Just keep a few things in mind:
βœ”οΈ Keep the fire away from structures & dry vegetation
βœ”οΈ Have water nearby
βœ”οΈ Watch children around the fire
βœ”οΈ Never leave it unattended
βœ”οΈ Completely extinguish it when you're finished

Enjoy those fall nights safely!

What's the most dangerous room in your house when it comes to fires?

You might be surprised...the KITCHEN. 🍳

A few reminders:
πŸ”₯ Stay nearby when cooking
🧻 Keep towels, paper & other combustibles away from the stovetop
🍳 Keep a lid nearby when frying
🚫 NEVER pour water on a grease fire

And if a fire is growing or you aren't sure you can safely handle it...GET OUT and call 911.

Fire Prevention Week may be coming to an end, but our volunteers' commitment doesn't.

They train after work. They leave family dinners. They wake up in the middle of the night. They respond in the heat, cold, rain, and everything in between.

All because someone in our community needs help.

To every Hindsville volunteer who answers the call: thank you. πŸš’β€οΈ

Since it's Fire Prevention Week, let's see how much you know!

TRUE or FALSE:

πŸšͺ Sleeping with your bedroom door CLOSED can help protect you during a house fire.

Drop your answer below before looking it up! πŸ‘‡

Here's something to think about tonight:

Could everyone in your house get outside safely if there were a fire at 2:00 a.m. in the dark, half asleep, with smoke making it difficult to see?

That's why practicing a home fire escape plan matters.

πŸ”₯ Know two ways out
πŸšͺ Close doors behind you
πŸƒ Get outside and STAY outside
πŸ“ Meet at your designated spot
πŸ“ž Call 911

Don't wait until an emergency to figure out the plan.
