🔥Jane 102 Prescribed Burn update October 22, 2026:

Ignitions have been completed. Crews will continue to patrol the unit and take action where necessary in the coming weeks.

Please continue to use caution in the area and watch for fire personnel and equipment as they continue to patrol.

Smoke will continue to be visible surrounding the area for the days following prescribed fires.

Thanks for your patience as we continue this important fuels treatment safely and effectively.

Prescribed fire unit planned beginning October 13, 2026:

Emigrant Creek Ranger District:

📍Jane 201 is located approximately 2 miles south of Wolf Creek Meadows. Western boundary is Forest Service Road 1710 and Southern boundary is Forest Service Road 17. (3,141 acres)

Prescribed fire is utilized to help reduce overgrown vegetation to help protect local communities, infrastructure and natural resources from wildfires.

We will evaluate weather conditions in the days and hours before the burn operations begin. If conditions warrant, scheduled prescribed fire activities may be canceled.

🔥ℹ️ Prescribed Fire information 👇🏼

📣ℹ Effective today, September 23, 2026, the northern portion of Burns Interagency Fire Zone (BIFZ), managed by the Malheur National Forest, Emigrant Creek Ranger District, has lifted public use restrictions and will now be in seasonal use restrictions. This means campfires will now be allowed outside of designated campgrounds and the time restrictions on chainsaw use has been lifted.

For industrial woodworkers, the Industrial Fire Precaution Level, is lowering to IFPL I, and fire danger is moving to low.

ℹ For the southern portion of BIFZ, managed by Burns District Bureau of Land Management (BLM), RESTRICTIONS REMAIN UNCHANGED at this time.
