CONGRATULATIONS to my Graphic Design Associate, Adrian Pina-Matos! I was asked by Dr. Torri Jackson if I could get a couple of students’ to design a logo for the LCSS Student Advisory Council and two students took the challenge! While they both made amazing logos, Adrian’s was unanimously chosen by the students of the council!! Today, Dr. Jackson brought Adrian some goodies to thank him! I’m super proud of his hard work on this logo!

HAPPY BUS DRIVER APPRECIATION WEEK! October 19–23 - This week, Liberty College and Career Academy proudly joins Liberty County School System in celebrating Bus Driver Appreciation Week!

Our bus drivers do so much more than transport students from one destination to another. They are trusted professionals who help ensure our students arrive at school safely, begin their day with confidence, and return home to their families each afternoon.

Their dedication, patience, professionalism, and commitment to student safety make a difference in the lives of our students and families every single day. We recognize the early mornings, long routes, changing road conditions, and countless responsibilities that come with this important role. http://edne.tw/n1035680

SHOUT-OUT TO GEORGIA TECH AND HORIZONS LEARNING CENTER! LCCA IS EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH PARTNERSHIP! - Liberty College and Career Academy (LCCA) had the pleasure of hosting Georgia Tech’s Rural Computer Science Initiative for an exciting virtual lesson focused on robotics and coding! This partnership continues to open doors for our Associates, connecting classroom learning to the technology, innovation, and career opportunities shaping tomorrow’s workforce.

We were especially excited to welcome a new member to our collaborative, Horizons Learning Center! Representing Horizons was Mr. Ezekiel Williams, CTAE Teacher. Mr. Williams joined us to meet Mr. Scott Winnier, LCCA Engineering Program Specialist, and observe the virtual lesson in preparation for Horizons Learning Center’s own upcoming sessions with Georgia Tech.

This is what meaningful collaboration looks like! By bringing together education, research, technology, and workforce development, we are expanding access to high-quality computer science experiences and helping prepare students for the opportunities of the future. http://edne.tw/n1035638

What a great field trip we had on Friday! Graphic Design and Animation classes went to GSU’s Statesboro campus. Our associates had the opportunity to tour the Betty Foy Sanders Art Department and the galleries, which happened to have a graphic design show and an animation show going on! They also got to see some of the studios and labs. One of the Animation Professors, Lorraine Wible, held a workshop for the associates, which they truly enjoyed! Once we were all finished, they had the chance to eat lunch on campus! At LCCA, we are all about letting our associates experience new things whether it be on a college campus, at a job site, or using some hands on learning! Thank you so much Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art , Elsie Howington, Anna Currence and Lorraine Wible! We had a fantastic time!!! We will be back!

When You Act… anything can happen!
Alec Baldwin drops by Julie’s Greenroom to give the Greenies a lesson in one of the most important ingredients of theatre: pretending!
This wonderfully playful number, “When You Act,” is performed by Julie Andrews and Alec Baldwin and comes from episode 4, “Hello from the Ogre Side.” In the episode, Peri is decidedly unimpressed when she discovers she has been cast as an ogre, until Alec helps the Greenies explore how much fun it can be to… See more

🌲🎬 From our classroom in Georgia to recognition in California—TRUDY continues its journey!

We are proud to announce that TRUDY, created by students at Liberty College and Career Academy, is an OFFICIAL SELECTION of the Redwood Film Festival in Mountain View, California! 🌟

Redwood champions independent filmmaking, providing a platform for creative voices whose work deserves recognition beyond the world of big-budget productions. With more than 30 competition categories—including student films, drama, documentaries, animation, screenwriting, and achievements in cinematography, editing, and sound—the festival celebrates the many talents that bring a story to life.

The festival’s October 19–31, 2026 edition adds another exciting milestone to TRUDY’s growing festival journey!

Under the direction of student filmmaker Xaimary Torres Ortiz, our students transformed an ambitious idea into a film through research, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and countless hours of dedicated work. Every selection recognizes that effort—and reminds our students that their voices can reach far beyond the classroom. ❤️

Congratulations to TRUDY’s cast and crew, and thank you to the Redwood Film Festival for recognizing independent storytelling and supporting emerging filmmakers!

🌲 Georgia creativity. California recognition. A story that keeps moving forward.

I'm trying to help some of our students raise money to go to state SKILLS USA competitions. It costs about $600 per student to go.

Students are doing a PIZZA fundraiser. A discount card costs $20. The card allows you to BOGO pizzas at participating Dominoes.

Buy 5, get 5 free! Buy 30, get 30 free! Seriously. This would be GREAT for large groups, tailgates, parties, and film shoots!

The card is good until July of 2027.

It's a great deal!

Find a participating Dominoes near you at this location: https://slicetheprice.com/map

2 locations in Hinesville
7 locations in Savannah
1 in Pooler
1 in Richmond Hill

All proceeds will be donated to my student accounts.

🎬🌟 TRUDY IS AN OFFICIAL SELECTION & NOMINEE! 🌟🎬

More exciting news for our LCCA filmmakers! **TRUDY has been named an Official Selection and Nominee at the Iowa Valley Community College District Student Film Fest!**

Based in Marshalltown, Iowa, the festival celebrates student creativity, storytelling, and collaboration—giving emerging filmmakers a platform to share their voices.

Congratulations to **director, cinematographer, and editor Xaimary Torres Ortiz**, along with Dr. Joseph Frew-Miller and our entire cast and crew! Your work continues to carry a story created here in Liberty County to audiences far beyond our classroom. ❤️🎥
