Dispatch Supervisor Lori Calip and I attended the Oklahoma Public Safety Conference this week. This was my first time attending, and I would highly recommend it to any Chief or Sheriff whose agency operates a 911 dispatch center.

This conference focuses on our dispatch professionals—the first first responders. Hearing directly from dispatchers across Oklahoma about their experiences, challenges, and perspectives was eye-opening.

I came home with a better understanding of what they face on the other end of the radio and how we can better support them.

Thank you to the professionals who answer the calls, keep track of our responders, and help bring order to somebody’s worst day. Your work matters, and it deserves recognition.

And wouldn’t you know it—Jason Momoa showed up for the banquet. Apparently somebody told him Oklahoma had the best dispatchers.

🎉 Help us wish Officer Estes Conklin a happy 40th birthday! 🎉

Estes is a certified fi****ms instructor, CPR instructor, member of the OSBI Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, and member of the Kiowa County MDT team. He brings valuable skills and dedication to his work and has been a great asset to our department and the community we serve.

We’re proud to have him on the Hobart Police Department team—and we sure couldn’t let the big 4-0 slip by without giving him a little attention! 😂

🎉🎂 LOOK WHO'S TURNING THE BIG 4-0 TODAY! 🎂🎉

🚔 HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY, OFFICER DEREK EARLS! 🚔

Today, the Hobart Police Department wants to give a special birthday shoutout to our very own School Resource Officer, Derek Earls!

If you know Derek, you know he's not your average police officer. He's always got a smile on his face, a joke ready to go, and probably a smart remark just waiting for the right moment! 😂

Derek has a special way of connecting with the students and staff at Hobart Public Schools. Whether he's keeping our kids safe, lending a helping hand, sharing a laugh, or just being someone the students can count on, he makes a positive difference every day.

And that doesn't stop at the school doors. Derek is well-liked throughout our community, and we're fortunate to have someone with his personality, dedication, and heart serving the citizens of Hobart.

The Hobart Police Department and the City of Hobart are proud to have Derek as part of our team!

So, if you happen to see Officer Earls out and about today, make sure you stop and wish him a HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY! And don't be afraid to give him a little grief about officially reaching the big 4-0. Lord knows he's probably dished out plenty of it himself! 😂

Happy Birthday, Derek! We appreciate everything you do for our schools, our department, and our community!
