๐Ÿ’ก Social Media Tips & Tricks for Our Community

๐Ÿ‘‰ Social media is a great tool to stay connected with family, friends, and your local community, but staying safe online is just as important!

The City of Hobbs Communications Department put together a few simple tips to keep your personal information and online presence secure:

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ 6 Ways to Stay Safe Online:

๐Ÿ”’ Keep Personal Info Private: Avoid sharing your full name, address, phone number, birth date, or daily routine details. The less shared, the safer!
๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Think Before You Share: Not EVERYTHING needs to be posted! Use good judgment with photos, locations, and personal opinions. Once it's online, it's there for keeps, even if you delete it.
๐Ÿ‘€
Watch for Scams & Fraudsters: Be cautious of suspicious messages, "too good to be true" offers, or requests for money/info. Beware of anyone online asking for a gift card. When in doubt, don't click! Show anything suspicious to a trusted family member or friend and get another opinion.
๐Ÿค Be Kind & Respectful: Keep conversations productive and friendly online. Maintain a positive presence online.
โš™๏ธ Check Privacy Settings: Review your settings on each platform to control who sees your posts and profile details.
๐Ÿ“ถ Be Mindful on Public Wi-Fi: Avoid logging into sensitive accounts (like online banking or email) on public Wi-Fi networks. Keep your data locked down. Remember: your data is valuable AND vulnerable!

๐Ÿ‘‡ Please share this post with those in your life who may need a little extra help or a gentle reminder to stay aware.

Choose Safety. Choose Information. Choose Hobbs.
