Hello, hikers! It’s time for another , and today we’re going to WATCH THE WEATHER. Ohio’s weather can be unpredictable, so you need to be prepared for any conditions.

Before you head out on our 37 acres of trails, check the forecast and plan accordingly. Dress in layers that you can adjust as needed. Bring a rain jacket, a hat, gloves, and sunglasses and don’t forget that SPFm even on overcast days. Avoid hiking in thunderstorms, high winds, or extreme heat or cold and if you encounter some bad weather, seek shelter or head back.

And if the weather turns for the worse and you’re stuck inside, be sure to take advantage of the game room at , complete with arcade games, gaming console, board games, pool, and more! Hanging at ? Be sure to get in a game of foosball or grab a board game from our game closet.

🥾🌿🌲 Happy Holidays, hikers! Welcome to the fifth edition of , where we share some useful advice for hiking at our Sandstone Nature Preserve and throughout . Because it’s the season of giving, you’ll get a full set of tips today all about TRAIL ETIQUETTE.

When hiking on one of Hocking Hills' many publicly accessible trails, you want to be respectful of other hikers, bikers, horseback riders, and nature. One of the great things about many of Hocking Hills' trails in how accessible they are for hikers of all types, including families, elder hikers, and hikers with disabilities.

Here are some basic bits of trail etiquette:

1. Stay on the trail and do not cut switchbacks or create new paths
2. Yield to uphill traffic and faster users
3. Leave no trace and pack out what you pack in
4. Do not litter, graffiti, or damage plants or rocks
5. If bringing your canine friend, keep them leashed and clean up after them
6. Be friendly and courteous to others

If you’re hiking on Sandstone Nature Preserve’s 37 acres of private trails, you won’t have to worry about the crowds but please stick to common trail etiquette while enjoying the preserve.
