We have a scheduled Mock Training scheduled for tomorrow in Olmitz, Ks. This simulated training will include real response from emergency services- please know this is only a mock training to help better prepare both our lineman/employees but also our emergency personnel.

Join city officials, community members, and partners as we officially cut the ribbon and flip the switch on our publicly-owned, one-megawatt solar array. Discover how this tracking array—inspired by our resilient state sunflower—will harvest Kansas sunshine to power our local grid and provide a self-reliant foundation for generations to come.

A brief dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting will take place as part of the City of Hoisington’s governing body meeting on September 30, 2026. The council meeting will start at 6:00 PM and quickly progress to the first item of new business which is the dedication of the Hoisington solar array. The City has invited a number of partners to share comments about our locally-owned solar array prior to the actual ribbon cutting. This ceremony should provide a lot of information to our residents while providing an opportunity to view the facility up close and ask questions about the array. We look forward to celebrating this significant project with you.

The solar array is located east of US-281 at the location of the former driving range. If you have questions about the event or the location of the array, please contact the City office at 620-653-4125.

🚧 IMPORTANT TRAFFIC & ENTRANCE UPDATE 🚧

Beginning Monday, August 17, the City of Hoisington will begin construction on Green Street, directly east of Clara Barton Medical Center. During construction, Green Street will be closed and several hospital entrances will temporarily change.

Please keep the following in mind when visiting Clara Barton:

➡️ Main Hospital & Medical Clinic Parking Lot Entrance: The parking lot entrance from Green Street will be CLOSED. Please access the main parking lot from Vine Street on the west side of the hospital, as shown by the green arrows on the map.

➡️ Surgical Clinic Patients: Please park in the main hospital parking lot and enter through the Hospital Main Entrance during construction.

🚨 Emergency Department: The Green Street entrance to the Emergency Department will also be CLOSED. To reach the Emergency Department, please approach from W. 11th Street on the north side of the hospital and follow the drive to the Emergency Entrance, as shown by the red arrows on the map.

We know these temporary changes may take a little getting used to, and we appreciate your patience as the City completes this project. Please take a moment to review the map before your next visit and feel free to share this post to help us spread the word!

If you see a technician out and about please thank them for their service and commitment to serve our community.
