Holbrook Police Department Invites Residents to Faith & Blue Community Celebration

HOLBROOK — Chief David Del Papa and the Holbrook Police Department invite the public to a community event in collaboration with Faith & Blue and the Brookville Bible Church on Oct. 10.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 10, Holbrook Police and the Brookville Bible Church congregation will gather to celebrate community at Sumner Field, along South Franklin Street in Holbrook, in collaboration with Faith & Blue, a national organization aimed at building community connections.

The idea behind Faith & Blue is simple but powerful: reinforcing the ties that bind officers and residents is essential to building neighborhoods where everyone feels safe and included.

The event will feature police cars, fire trucks, a helicopter, food, games, a bounce house and crafts, promising family fun for all ages. It will also provide attendees with the opportunity to connect, meet and say hi to their local public safety officers.

“We hope to see many of our neighbors at this year’s Faith & Blue event at Sumner Field,” said Chief Del Papa. “This celebration is just one way the Holbrook Police Department aims to strengthen our community from within. Please join us for a great day with our friends from Brookville Bible Church, our event partners. Everyone is welcome.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

*UPDATE* Holbrook Police Identify, Charge Driver in September Pedestrian Crash Investigation

HOLBROOK — Chief David Del Papa reports that the Holbrook Police Department has identified and charged a driver following an investigation into a September crash in which a juvenile pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, which then fled the scene.

A 66-YEAR-OLD MALE, of BROCKTON, has been summonsed to court on a charge of Leaving the Scene of Personal Injury.

The charge stems from a crash that occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at approximately 2:30 p.m. on North Shore Road. A 15-year-old juvenile was struck by a vehicle while walking home from a nearby bus stop. The vehicle left the area following the crash.

Holbrook Police immediately began canvassing the area for surveillance footage and subsequently released images of vehicles of interest as detectives worked to identify the vehicle involved.

As the investigation continued, detectives obtained surveillance footage that showed a charcoal-colored Chrysler minivan traveling from the area around the time of the crash. Additional surveillance footage obtained during the investigation allowed detectives to identify a partial license plate.

Detectives then used the partial plate and vehicle description to conduct a search using automated license plate reader cameras. Through the investigation, utilizing information obtained through the cameras in Holbrook-area communities, detectives were able to identify a 2020 Chrysler Voyager and track the vehicle's movements on the day of the crash.

Detectives subsequently located the vehicle and identified its owner and operator. Police also observed damage to the vehicle that investigators determined was consistent with a pedestrian crash.

Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, police identified the 66-YEAR-OLD MALE as the driver and established probable cause to charge him with leaving the scene of personal injury.

The 66-YEAR-OLD MALE is scheduled to be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Nov. 4.

"The public played an important role in helping our detectives piece together what happened and ultimately identify the vehicle and driver," Chief Del Papa said. "We received valuable surveillance footage and information from the community, and our detectives followed each lead and used every investigative resource available to them. I want to thank everyone who assisted us and our detectives for their persistent work on this case."

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

*UPDATE* Holbrook Police Seek Public’s Help Identifying Vehicle Believed to Be Involved in Pedestrian Crash

HOLBROOK — Chief David Del Papa reports that the Holbrook Police Department is seeking the public’s help identifying a vehicle that investigators now believe was involved in a crash that injured a 15-year-old girl last week.

Through the ongoing investigation, Holbrook Police have ruled out a vehicle previously identified as a vehicle of interest.

Investigators have since obtained additional photo and video evidence of a charcoal-colored minivan that police believe was involved in the crash. The vehicle is believed to be a Chrysler Pacifica.

The vehicle may have a white scuff mark or bumper sticker on the left side of its rear bumper.

Investigators determined that the minivan turned from Beach Road onto South Street toward Spring Street at approximately 2:24 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, shortly after the pedestrian was struck.

Police are seeking to identify the vehicle and its owner or operator as part of the ongoing investigation.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. in the area of 10 North Shore Road. A 15-year-old girl was struck while walking home from a nearby bus stop. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Anyone who has information that could assist investigators is asked to contact Holbrook Police Detective Michael Szczesny at 781-767-1212.

The incident remains under investigation.
