There will be a controlled burn happing tomorrow September 30 by the BLM near sheep creek in ARBON valley. No need to call it in and smoke will be visible most of the day.

Effective today, the Burn Ban will be lifted. We sincerely thank all individuals for their vigilance and cooperation in taking necessary measures to mitigate wildfires throughout the summer. While the ban is being lifted, we encourage continued caution and adherence to safety protocols.

The department is on a hay stack fire right near the state line. We are facing gusty winds and a lot of hay that is burning with lots of heat. Smoke will be seen for days as it burns out. Right now we or in defense mode of protecting structures and keep it from moving out. No need to call in if smoke is seen for a few days.

Isolated storms are possible Wednesday afternoon and evening across parts of the Pacific and Inland Northwest during the transition from summer heat to a cold storm system approaching the region!
Afternoon temperatures will be quite warm - in the 80s and 90s - but colder air aloft will spread overhead. This will create an unstable environment that could lead to a few storms. Initially, atmospheric moisture levels are fairly dry, so gusty winds and dry lightning are possible that could spark new fires. There is also a severe risk for northern Utah and southern Idaho for thunderstorm wind gusts of 70 mph

A fire has been reported on the east Hansel hills of Holbrook. Crews have been notified and are in route.

School has been in session for 9 weeks. In that time we have issued 9 citations, some of which were close calls and a student was almost injured. If you see the yellow lights activated be prepared to stop. There is no roadway in Oneida County where you are permitted drive past a school bus while its red lights are activated and the stop arm is out.
