Joe Moss and his extreme far-right group Ottawa Impact cost Ottawa County millions of dollars in lawsuits and settlements during their control of the county's board of commissioners. Here, my State Senate opponent poses for a photo with Joe Moss and John James, whose federal votes have ballooned the national debt and added costs for working families.

While some people run from bad decisions, others take photos with them.

You deserve better leadership! You deserve someone who is willing to listen, leads with your best interests at heart, and builds a stronger community for everyone.

Heather Cox Richardson is a professor of history at Boston College and American historian who has authored 7 books on history and politics. Her writing every night is highly recommended, but today, I share her words because they hit close to home. Heather asks the question we’re all thinking: why don’t Republicans seem to care about representing their constituents.

“In the past, Republicans in safe Republican districts did not have to appeal to constituents or campaign, apparently because the letter "R" was enough to get voters to make a mark next to their name. In this new environment in which constituents are furious with Republican policies, Republicans hoping to be elected continue to keep their heads down, apparently hoping that they can be elected, or reelected, if they simply keep their mouths shut.

Their invisibility raises the question of why these people, who evidently don't care about representing their constituents, would want to hold national office. Perhaps they want to hobble the federal government to enable wealthy businessmen to gain even more control over the country. Perhaps they want to enable the rise of a theocracy. Perhaps they are hoping to make money off their offices. Perhaps they simply want the prestige of a federal office [or state office, apparently].”

Challenges with food, housing, and finances often go hand-in-hand with mental health issues. Money won’t cure mental health problems, but financial security does remove a huge layer of daily stress. That’s why I’m committed to working on our affordability crisis from all angles.
