At approximately 5:00 AM this morning, the Hollis Fire Department responded to a serious single-vehicle motor vehicle accident involving two occupants.

One of the occupants was trapped, requiring a prolonged extrication from the vehicle and was subsequently transported by medical helicopter to a trauma center for further treatment. The driver was also transported to a local hospital.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Pepperell Fire Department and Townsend Fire Department for their assistance with the extrication and transportation of the patient to the helicopter landing zone. We would also like to thank the Nashua Fire Department for providing station coverage while our crews operated at the scene.

We are proud of the hard work and dedication shown by our crews and all agencies involved.

Our thoughts are with those involved and their families.

With cooler weather settling in and heating season approaching, now is a good time to make sure your chimney is ready for regular use.

Have your chimney inspected and cleaned annually, remove creosote buildup, and always burn dry, seasoned wood. A little preparation now can help reduce the risk of a chimney fire this fall and winter.
