October is National Principals Month, and Southern Wake Academy would like to recognize Principal April Goff and Assistant Principal Shawn Dayton.
Ms. Goff provides leadership for our instructional program and works closely with our teachers and administrative team to strengthen teaching and learning throughout the school. Her responsibilities extend well beyond what most people see. In addition to leading instruction, she guides curriculum, assessment, academic accountability, teacher support, school improvement planning, and many of the daily decisions that affect students, staff members, and families. She frequently manages several complex priorities at once while remaining focused on student growth and providing teachers with the structure and support they need to be successful. The scope of this work is significant and requires careful judgment, persistence, and a deep commitment to the school.
Mr. Dayton provides steady and experienced leadership in student services and the daily operation of the school. He works directly with students, families, and staff members while managing situations that often require patience, sound judgment, and care. He also leads our School Improvement Team, helping guide the implementation and follow through of our school improvement priorities. In addition, he manages important projects behind the scenes that many people may not see but that help the school operate effectively and continue moving forward. His calm presence and willingness to respond when needs arise are valuable to our school community.
The work of school leaders is demanding, and much of it takes place behind the scenes. Ms. Goff and Mr. Dayton carry significant responsibilities each day, and we appreciate their service, partnership, and continued commitment to Southern Wake Academy.
