With losing our summer help this weekend (thank you for all your hard work!) operations will be scaling back starting today. This means that the modern bathrooms at the Big Seven Beach and Big Seven Shelters will be open ONLY on weekends and when the shelters are rented (weather dependent - if we start reaching freezing temperatures, they will be shut down for the year.)

The map below shows the location of vault toilets in the park which do not close.

*Please remember, this is tomorrow, Wednesday, 10/7/26. The training is scheduled to last from 8am-1pm. This is a multi-agency training for a Mass Casualty Scenario involving National Guard, First Responders, DNR, and more. *

ATTENTION PLEASE:

On Wednesday October 7th, 2026, there will be a multi-agency training occurring at the Big Seven Beach Area - Meadow Ridge Parking Lot - which will include the landing of a Chinook CH47 helicopter (pictured). The Meadow Ridge parking area of the Big Seven Beach will be barricaded off Tuesday (10/6) night for this training. Please do not enter this area or bypass barricades. Fall turkey and small game seasons begin tomorrow. Here are a few reminders and opportunities for hunters looking to enjoy.

Seasons:
Fall turkey - Sept. 15 - Nov. 14
Ruffed grouse - Sept. 15 - Nov. 14 and Dec. 1 - Jan. 1
Woodcock - Sept. 15 - Oct. 29
Snowshoe hare/cottontail rabbit - Sept. 15 - Mar. 31
Fox/grey squirrel - Sept. 15 - Mar. 31

These are great opportunities to get youth hunters extra experience and spend time outdoors together. As a reminder, turkey harvest reporting is mandatory and that information helps shape harvest and management goals to ensure this species is managed properly for hunters today and in the future to enjoy.

Fall turkey tags can be purchased in stores, online or through the Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app. If purchased through the app, you will receive an electronic harvest tag instantly. Tags purchased through the website can take 10 business days to arrive so plan accordingly.

Please be aware that September 12 and 13th are the Early Antlerless Fi***rm and Liberty Hunt seasons for Whitetail Deer. Expect to see hunters in the park with fi****ms during these 2 days. We advise wearing bright colors if you plan on being in the park this weekend.
