Honoring Our History, Celebrating Our HPD Family! 💙

The Hollywood Police Department welcomed back our retirees for a special luncheon celebrating the men and women who helped shape our department’s history and legacy.

Chief Jeff Devlin addressed the group, thanking everyone for coming out, recognizing their lasting contributions to HPD, and sharing a few laughs along the way. After all, some things never change…including the camaraderie and humor that make this profession a family!

The day was even more special as our Charlie Shift officers held their patrol line-up at with the retirees, bringing together generations of HPD. Seeing current officers alongside their retired parents and grandparents was a powerful reminder that service, dedication, and pride in this department run deep.

🏈 Football, service and community!

Yesterday, members of the Hollywood Police Department joined the Miami Dolphins at our Hollywood Police Athletic League for a youth football combine as part of the Football UNITES™ Jason Jenkins Days of Service. What an amazing opportunity to come together in support of our young athletes!

This initiative honors the legacy of Jason Jenkins, the Dolphins’ late Senior Vice President of Communications and Community Affairs, whose passion for serving others and bringing people together continues to make a difference throughout South Florida.

Thank you to the Miami Dolphins for investing in our youth and helping create meaningful connections through sports. We are proud to be part of an event that carries Jason’s legacy forward through teamwork, kindness and service. 💙🐬

In today’s , HPD Traffic Detective Nuñez encounters a driver who apparently thought a quick coffee stop justified illegally parking in a designated handicap space.

A quick stop is no excuse for taking a space reserved for somebody who really needs it.

Last Thursday, members of the Hollywood Police Department and our community gathered for a memorial prayer service honoring Officer Yandy Chirino and Lieutenant John Graham. Together, we remembered their lives, their service, and the lasting impact they have on our department.

Thank you to the Emerald Hills community for generously providing lunch for our officers and staff. We are also grateful to the Broward first responder support dogs and their handlers for bringing comfort during a meaningful day of remembrance.

To everyone who stood beside us, thank you for helping us honor our fallen and care for those who continue to serve. 💙

🏃‍♂️💙 RUNNING IN REMEMBRANCE. STANDING TOGETHER FOR MENTAL HEALTH.

Today, the Hollywood Police Department held its annual Lt. John Graham Memorial Run, honoring the life, service, and legacy of one of our own, whom we tragically lost to su***de five years ago.

This run is more than a tradition. It is a powerful reminder of the importance of mental health, the strength found in supporting one another, and our shared responsibility to break the stigma surrounding mental health struggles.

Behind every uniform is a human being. Someone who faces challenges, carries burdens, and fights battles that others may never see. We never truly know what someone else may be going through behind closed doors or beneath a smile.

In law enforcement, we dedicate our lives to protecting others. But we must never forget the importance of looking out for each other.

Check on your friends. Reach out to your coworkers. Listen without judgment. And never underestimate the difference a simple conversation can make.

Asking for help is not a sign of weakness. It is a sign of courage. And no one should ever feel they have to face their struggles alone.

Today, we ran for Lt. John Graham. We ran for awareness. We ran to remind one another that every life matters, every struggle deserves compassion, and no one should suffer in silence.

💙 Lt. John Graham — Forever remembered. Never forgotten.

Today, we remember Fallen Officer Yandy Chirino. Five years ago, on October 17th, 2021, Officer Chirino was responding to a call of someone breaking into cars. Officers Chirino caught the suspect and a struggle began. The suspect shot and mortally wounded Officer Chirino. He passed away October 18th, 2021.
He will always be remembered as a hero who died keeping his community safe. He was a great officer, son, and friend. We will continue to honor his legacy and share his story.
Every year, a special Alpha shift roll call is held at Yandy Chirino Playground. Due to the bad weather, we invited the community to join the special roll call inside the Hollywood Police Department Community Room, where Chief Devlin and Mayor Levy spoke about Yandy’s legacy.
We will always remember that Officer Chirino made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of his community, doing a job he loved dearly.
