Heads up! 👇
⚠️All library locations will be closed on Tuesday, October 13, for staff training.
❌The Badger Talk “Body Politics and Body Advocacy,” scheduled for October 15 at the Holmen Library, has been cancelled due to a scheduling conflict.
🎉Good news—we’ve added a new Badger Talk! Join us for “What’s Your Favorite Color?” on October 22 at 6 p.m. at the Holmen Library. Geared for adults/teens. The first 50 attendees will receive a free science kit for youth, courtesy of the Wisconsin Science Festival!

❌Censorship by the Numbers❌

According to the American Library Association, in 2025:
📕4,235 unique titles were challenged.
📘5,668 titles were banned from libraries.
📗Access to an additional 920 titles was restricted.

ALA reports that 2025 saw both the highest number of titles censored in a single year and the highest rate of challenges resulting in censorship since the Office for Intellectual Freedom began tracking this data in 1990.

Behind every number is a book—and potentially a reader who wants access to it.
