🔥🚒 Fire Prevention Week is here!

We’ve been spending the week in our local schools talking fire safety, and we’ve been having a blast! This year, we’re focusing on charging safety and lithium-ion batteries and helping kids understand how to stay safe around the technology we use every day.

And we’re not done yet!

Never Forget. Never Stop Fighting for Them. 🇺🇸👨‍🚒🪖👮‍♂️

25 years later, the true cost of 9/11 is a debt our nation is still paying.

2,977 lives were lost on September 11, 2001. More than 7,000 service members lost their lives in the wars that followed, and tens of thousands of post 9/11 veterans have since died by su***de.

As firefighters, we understand the weight that trauma can carry long after the call is over. The wounds we can’t see can be just as serious as the ones we can.

Today, we honor those who were lost in the towers, those who served overseas, and those who came home carrying battles of their own.

🚒 Residential Basement Fire on Cliffview Drive

HAFD responded to a residential basement fire on Cliffview Dr at 9:13 am September 6 after a neighbor reported smoke coming from the home. Firefighters quickly contained the fire with assistance from the Onalaska, La Crosse, and Galesville Fire Departments. No civilians were injured, and a family dog was safely reunited with its owners. One firefighter was evaluated on scene for a heat-related illness.

📞 Public Safety Reminder: Always call 911 to report fires, medical emergencies, or other emergencies. Calling 911 ensures trained dispatchers can quickly send the appropriate emergency resources without delay.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Fill the Boot drive yesterday.

Our members from Local 127 La Crosse Area Professional Firefighters were out collecting for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), and the response from our community was outstanding.

Together, we raised a grand total of $2,369.29, which will be donated directly to the MDA to fund critical research and patient care.

August was a busy month for our team, and we’re not slowing down! 🔥

We are currently running over 100 calls ahead of last year's numbers, keeping us on pace to break the record call volume set in 2025.

While the call volume grows, so does our commitment to readiness.

Our crews put in hundreds of hours of training this month, highlighted by a massive joint training drill alongside our neighbors at City of Onalaska Fire Department, Holmen Police Department, and City of Onalaska Police Department. Working together ensures we are all seamless and ready when our communities need us most.

Whether it's answering the call or leveling up our skills, we continue to be ready to serve you 24/7.

We hope everyone had an enjoyable summer and wish all of our students, teachers, staff, and families a safe, happy, and successful school year!

As everyone gets back into the routine, remember to slow down, stay alert, watch for students, and give our kids plenty of room to get where they’re going safely. 🚸🚲
