Directions Website Contact the organization

Our collections document the history of Holyoke and the surrounding region. Most of our collections are available for research into city and family history.

We provide research help and consultations in our History Reading Room on the Third Floor of the Holyoke Public Library. The Holyoke Public Library History Room and Archives collects, maintains, and makes available a rich variety of resources documenting the history and development of Holyoke, Massachusetts, one of the first planned cities in the United States. The History Room is staffed by a Librarian/Archivist and volunteer assistants. THE HISTORY will be CLOSED from January 29-February 5, 2025, due to a planned staff absence. Our regular hour resume on February 6, 2025. History Room regular hours: Tuesdays (10-2 and 3-6), Wednesdays (10-4) and Thursdays (10-4). Other occasional changes to hours due to staff schedules are posted to our website: http://www.holyokelibrary.org/historyabout.asp
Appointments may be needed for work with archival/manuscript collections stored outside the Reading Room. Call (413) 420-8107. For our email address, see our website:
