Committee to Elect Garcia For Holyoke
Mayor Garcia Addresses Campaign Fine and Election Integrity
PRESS RELEASE: Mayor Joshua A. Garcia reported that his campaign committee is being fined for the late submission of documents listing expenditures. In the 2025 municipal elections, Garcia openly supported several candidates for Holyoke City Council. He paid for mailings from his own campaign account to support the candidate’s.
“I believed strongly in the ability of the candidates I publicly supported. I appreciate the thoroughness of the state’s Office of Campaign and Political Finance,” Garcia said. “Especially at a time when the integrity of elections is often called into question.”
Garcia said he was notified that his campaign’s expenditures on behalf of various Holyoke City Council candidates, though legal, had missed a reporting deadline.
“I am very thankful for the guardians of our election process,” Garcia said. “The Office of Campaign and Political Finance was exemplary in explaining to me that there had been changes in reporting laws, which I was unaware of. They settled on a minimum $1,000 fine because the appropriate remedial action was taken and all activity has since been disclosed.”
Holyoke Mayor Garcia’s campaign was fined $1,000 for failing to timely report mailers supporting council candidates. Garcia said the spending was legal but missed a reporting deadline amid changes to campaign finance law.
