For more than three decades, Susan has dedicated her life to advocating for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, uplifting families, and ensuring that those who need support have a place to turn for safety, healing, and hope.

This recognition is more than an award. It is a celebration of decades of compassion, resilience, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our community.

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month! 💜

Today, the MUJER team had the opportunity to visit Silver Vase Orchids and connect with their employees for an important conversation about domestic violence awareness, education, and the resources available to those who may need support.

Through meaningful conversations and interactive activities, we shared messages of hope, empowerment, and the importance of recognizing that everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported. 💜

We had a wonderful opportunity to connect with Turkey Point employees, share MUJER’s mission, and highlight the vital services we provide to survivors of domestic and sexual violence throughout our community.

MUJER continues to raise its voice for survivors and for the community we serve. 💜

Last week, our Executive Director, Susan J. Rubio Rivera, addressed the Miami-Dade County Commission during its budget hearing, sharing the real-life impact that community-based organizations have on survivors of sexual and domestic violence, children, and families across our community.

Susan reminded our leaders that behind every funding decision are real people whose lives can be changed when they have access to therapy, advocacy, crisis intervention, and the support they need to heal.

MUJER joined more than 60 organizations through the Advocacy Collective in calling for a 3% increase in funding for community-based organizations. While the Commission ultimately maintained CBO funding at last year’s level, our advocacy does not stop here.

For almost three decades, MUJER has stood alongside survivors in South Miami-Dade. We will continue showing up, speaking up, and advocating for the resources our community needs.

Last Friday, our team stepped away from our daily work to focus on something just as important, ourselves. 💚

We gathered at Casa Tranquilla for our quarterly Compassion Fatigue Day, where we spent time recharging, strengthening our connections, and practicing self-care. From designing flower pots for one another to enjoying the pool and touring the beautiful space, every moment reminded us that caring for ourselves helps us better care for others.

We're grateful for this opportunity to refresh, reconnect, and continue our mission with renewed energy. 💚✨
