⚽ A NEW CHAPTER FOR HONEA PATH PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT!

On Thursday, October 8, 2026, the Town of Honea Path, Honea Path Parks & Recreation, Honea Path First Baptist Church, and members of the community gathered at the new Honea Path Soccer Field for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony!

Before the ribbon was cut, Dr. Joshua Phillips, Pastor of Honea Path First Baptist Church, led those in attendance in prayer, offering a moment of gratitude and blessing for the new field, the children who will play there, and the community it will serve.

This special occasion celebrated several years of planning, dedication, and partnerships that helped turn a vision into reality for the Honea Path community.

⚽ A Look Back at How It All Began:

πŸ“ 2022 – Property Donation: The property was generously donated to Honea Path First Baptist Church by Toby Chandler, helping lay the foundation for what would eventually become the new soccer field.

πŸ“ 2024 – A Community Partnership & State Funding: The Town of Honea Path and Honea Path First Baptist Church joined forces to pursue funding and work toward developing the property into a recreational soccer field. South Carolina State Senator Mike Gambrell played an important role in helping secure state funding to support the project and move the community’s vision forward.

πŸ“ 2025 – Construction Begins: Through continued collaboration and dedication, construction and development of the new Honea Path Soccer Field moved forward, bringing the vision one step closer to reality.

πŸ“ 2026 – A New Beginning: The new soccer field welcomed its first recreational soccer season, giving local children and families a new place to enjoy the sport, build friendships, and create lasting memories.

A Partnership That Makes a Difference!

The completion of this project is a wonderful example of what can happen when local government, churches, state leaders, and community members come together with a shared vision.

The Town of Honea Path extends its sincere appreciation to Toby Chandler for the original property donation, Honea Path First Baptist Church for its partnership, Senator Mike Gambrell for his assistance in securing state funding, and everyone who played a role in making this project possible.

This field represents more than a place to play soccer. It represents teamwork, community investment, and a commitment to providing recreational opportunities for future generations.

As we celebrate this milestone, we look forward to seeing the Honea Path Soccer Field continue to serve our children, families, and community for many years to come!

⚽ Great things happen when a community works together!
