History of FTZ9 | 2018 📜

In autumn 2018, Hawai‘i Foreign-Trade Zone No. 9 reorganized under the Alternative Site Framework (ASF), expanding where Foreign-Trade Zone operations could be established across the state.

Rather than limiting FTZ operations to traditionally designated areas, ASF opened the opportunity for eligible businesses anywhere in Hawai‘i to work with FTZ9 to establish an FTZ at their own location.

The transition marked an important step in making the FTZ program more accessible to businesses statewide.
