This month I had the pleasure and honor of recognize my good friend and former colleague, Senator Michelle N. Kidani, for her 18 years of dedicated service to the people and State of Hawaiʻi!
Throughout her career, Senator Kidani has been a tireless advocate for public education, championing initiatives that expand opportunities for our keiki, support educators, and improve school facilities across the state.
Michelle and I first became friends about 11 years ago, after I unexpectedly got elected onto the MTA HOA board, years before I became a state legislator. Once we became “colleagues” I continued to be blessed by her friendship and mentorship. Even when we didn’t agree on all pieces of legislation, or when some public opinion did not agree or understand how two wahine from “opposite sides of the aisle” could co-exist, Michelle never let that get in the way of our work or personal relationships.
Having had the privilege of working alongside her in various capacities, I have seen firsthand her passion and commitment to serving our communities.
Congratulations on your well-deserved retirement, Senator Kidani! Mahalo for your years of friendship, leadership, and dedication to the people of Hawaiʻi!
