On August 17th, the Safety Center hosted the American Red Cross Blood Drive, and if you recall, there was a little competition between the blue side and the red side... Well, the results are in!! HFR is the 2026 winner! Melissa Coffey presented the award to Chief Nadeau, Assistant Chief Miller, and Captain Stalker. -She even wore RED! Seriously though, the real winners are all the people who came and donated their blood to help others in their time of need. We dedicate this trophy to you all! We are looking forward to the next drive to be scheduled sometime in 2027.

The Hooksett Fire Rescue Department has taken delivery of our new 2026 Alexis / International HV pumper-tanker. This apparatus is designed primarily to transport and supply large quantities of water to fire scenes, making it especially valuable in areas where municipal water supplies, hydrants, or water infrastructure are limited. A large part of Hooksett does not lie in a 'hydrant district,' making an apparatus like this imperative to providing adequate fire protection to the town. This apparatus is a replacement through insurance from the previous pumper-tanker that was involved in an accident 3 years ago.

Funny enough, we have had several calls in the past two weeks of people complaining of the same issue involving smoke alarms. So just borrowing the thoughts of a nearby department that may help if this happens in your home!

We had an interesting call this weekend. We responded to a home where the smoke detectors were beeping ( you know the beep that typically happens a 2:00 am to tell you the batteries are low). The home owner had already replaced the batteries with fresh batteries and the detectors continued to beep! After trouble shooting and trying numerous strategies we could not get the detectors to stop beeping. Upon further investigation we found the detectors recommended specific brands of batteries. ( I assumed it was a marketing ploy to sell the name brand batteries) After a quick trip to the local hardware store, we installed the name brand batteries and low and behold the beeping stopped. The home owner actually did a deep dive to find out why the cheep batteries did not work. ( I won’t bore you with the details) The moral of the story is if a product recommends a specific battery there may be a good reason, other than marketing

25 Years Later — We Remember. 🇺🇸

Today, our department gathered to honor and remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the brave first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice while running toward danger to help others.

Twenty-five years have passed, but the courage, sacrifice, and brotherhood displayed that day will never be forgotten. Firefighters, police officers, EMS providers, dispatchers, and countless others answered the call without hesitation, knowing only that someone needed their help. We also remember the families, friends, and colleagues who were left behind, and the many first responders who continue to face the lasting effects of that day.

As members of the fire service, we carry their memory with us every time we put on our uniforms, climb aboard our apparatus, and answer the call.

Thank you to everyone who took time out of their daily schedules to attend today’s event. Special thank you to the HFRD Honor Guard for their efforts in planning today’s event.

We remember the fallen.
We honor the heroes.
We will never forget.

September 11, 2001 — Never Forgotten.
