W**d control is an important part of maintaining a clean and well-maintained playground.

First person to find the bug in the rubber mulch gets $1,000!

Here's the catch… we're so confident that our rubber mulch won't have bugs because guess what? Unlike wood chips and grass, our rubber mulch doesn't provide termites and other bugs with a food source.

And this isn't just something we're saying.��Researchers at Mississippi State University actually tested rubber mulch against Formosan subterranean termites — an aggressive termite species originally from East Asia that is now established in parts of the Southern U.S.

They put 250 termites into containers with different types of mulch and checked them after 6 weeks.

The results?
- Rubber mulch: 100% termite mortality.
- The wood control? Only 12.8% termite mortality.

Why? Rubber mulch doesn't decompose like wood and doesn't give termites the cellulose they're looking for. Organic mulches can provide food, moisture and shelter for termites, while rubber mulch doesn't break down into that same food source.

So when you're putting a playground in your backyard, you're not creating a giant buffet for bugs.

Safe for kids. No decomposing wood. No food source for termites or other bugs. And it still looks great years later.

We get A LOT of comments about this, and honestly, we've seen a lot of misinformation floating around... So we're going to do something about it.
We're calling ourselves the Rubber Busters!

We're going through the actual studies and tackling the biggest claims about rubber mulch — one at a time.

Does it cause cancer? Is it toxic? What about the chemicals?

How much rubber mulch do you actually need? We’ve got you covered!

Trying to figure out how much rubber mulch you need for your playground or landscaping project? We made it easy. Check out our website and try our new “Build My Playground” feature! (Link in the comments below)

Our goal was to create the easiest tool possible to help you figure out exactly what you need to build a safer playground or landscape area.

For playgrounds, we recommend 3" of rubber mulch, which provides a fall-height rating of up to 6 feet. Simply enter your project dimensions and let our calculator help you determine how much material you need.
