Dear WCSD Community,

The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. Today, I sent a letter to our state and federal government representatives, requesting that federal and/or state funding be made available immediately to support the health, welfare and safety of our students. This funding could help the District provide a School Resource Officer in each of our buildings, and enhance our mental health services. Dr. Bonk and Trustee Dr. Shuchat joined Vassar Road ES 2nd graders at a flag raising ceremony this week. As part of their American symbols unit, students learned about the American flag as a symbol. Custodian Mr. Jason demonstrated how the flag is raised each day and tested their knowledge of it! After the flag was raised, they all said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the National Anthem. Students in our high school Sports and Entertainment Marketing classes recently visited Sports Illustrated Stadium in NJ for an insider’s look at the New York Red Bulls. Students met with team executives to explore the wide range of careers involved in running a professional soccer organization—including legal, operations, marketing, and sales.
