WHAT A DAY TO BE A COLONEL!

Our CCMS Colonels showed up and showed OUT today in the Kentucky Middle School State Playoffs! Both our 7th AND 8th grade teams came away with WINS!

These young men left it all on the field, showing determination, heart, and what it means to be a COLONEL! And let's talk about our FANS! From the opening kickoff to the final whistle, you cheered our boys on and kept the energy going! Your support did not go unnoticed, and we couldn't be prouder of our Colonel community!

Congratulations to our players and coaches! The work isn't finished, and neither are we!

TWO TEAMS. TWO WINS. ONE COLONEL FAMILY! ❤️💙

🌟 Classroom Spotlight: Mrs. Embrey’s Class!

This week, students in Mrs. Embrey’s class put their knowledge of how health insurance works into action!

Students were given several insurance plan options along with a patient who had specific healthcare needs. Working in groups, they had to break down each plan, consider the patient’s needs, and determine which option would be the best fit for their patient.

This wasn’t just about knowing how insurance works — students had to apply their knowledge, collaborate, analyze information, and make a real-world decision. 🏥💡

We love seeing our Colonels engaged in learning that connects classroom content to the real world! ❤️🤍💙

Way to go, Mrs. Embrey and students! 👏

🐟 Fishbowl Learning in Action! 🐟

Ms. Sumner’s class had an absolute blast yesterday diving deep into their reading with a fun fishbowl activity! The class was working hard to prepare for an Extended Response Question (ERQ) using their CREW strategy—Claim, Reason, Evidence, Why.

When it turned out the prompt actually called for two pieces of evidence, the students quickly adapted! As new "fish" swam into the middle ring, they jumped right into discussion to expand their graphic organizers to CREWEW!

It was amazing to see our students collaborate:

Peer-Led Discussion: "Fish" in the center debated the next steps and made sure to speak up so everyone around them could follow the process.

Active Listening: While the center fish bounced ideas off each other, the rest of the class kept their graphic organizers updated step-by-step.

"This proves..." that when our kids work together, big writing challenges become easy to catch! Way to go, Ms. Sumner’s class!🎣

Yesterday, Mrs. Holmes’s 6th grade class was DEBATING like their lives depended on it! 😂 Students practiced understanding the other side’s argument while defending their own claims. The opinions were STRONG, the comebacks were coming, and nobody was backing down! 🤣 Future lawyers in the making… somebody call the courtroom! They did a phenomenal job!
