🚒 A BIG THANK YOU! 🎅

The Horseheads Fire Company would like to extend a sincere thank you to Bethany Village and WENY TV News for their generous donation to our fire company!

Your support helps us continue working toward future projects and specialized equipment purchases through the company. These help our members provide amazing services to our community.

🚒 Engine 1031 | Pump Operator Training

Engine 1031 was throwing some water tonight at the training tower in support of several members working through their Pump Operator course with NYSOFPC.

No automated governor here! Just members learning some of the old-school fundamentals of pump operations — listening to the engine, reading the gauges, feeling the intake, and understanding what the pump is telling you.

Technology has its place, but knowing your apparatus and understanding the basics will never go out of style. Building confident, competent pump operators starts with mastering the fundamentals! 💪🚒

It’s been an extremely busy week for HFD, and we wrapped it up with our annual Fire Prevention Touch-A-Truck event while handling 30 calls of service this week! 🚒

Our members and staff enjoyed the opportunity to connect with our community, bring smiles to families, and most importantly, spread fire safety awareness to all ages. We conducted 3 elementary schools, 4 pre-k’s and countless visits reaching over 1400 school students!

Fire prevention starts with education, and events like these allow us to engage with our youngest community members while reminding everyone of the importance of staying safe.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out, our participating agencies and organizations, and all those who helped make this event a success!

🚒 HFD is proud to announce our 2026 Kiwanis Firefighter of the Year — FF/EMT Will Riley Jr.! 🚒

Will has become a tremendous asset to the Horseheads Fire Department and Fire Company. Through his willingness to mentor and guide our younger members, he has taken them under his wing and helped them grow in all aspects of the department and fire service.

At the same time, Will continues to expand his own knowledge and experience, attending classes and earning several additional certifications. His dedication to learning, teaching, and serving others is a great example of what it means to be a firefighter.

Will is a trusted, dedicated, and hardworking member of HFD — the kind of firefighter we all strive to be.

Congratulations, Will, and thank you for everything you do for HFD! 👏🔥

This evening also brought another special recognition as Chief Art Sullivan was honored for 50 years of service to the Village of Horseheads!

Congratulations, Chief Sullivan, and congratulations as well to the Firefighter of the Year recipients from Elmira Heights Fire Department and Town & Country Fire Department!

A great evening recognizing some truly dedicated members of our local fire service. 🚒❤️
