Happy National Coaches Day!

Today, we’re celebrating some of our folks who take on an other important role — Coach.

These guys spend their days keeping our communities safe, and then they head to the courts and fields to coach, mentor, build positive relationships and encourage the next generation.

Being a coach is about so much more than the game. It’s about teaching teamwork, building confidence, leading by example and being someone students can count on.

We’re proud of FRCSO Deputy Mike Close, Hot Springs, SD Police Department Chief Ross Norton, HSPD Investigator Brandon Petersen, HSPD Officer Ryan Del Rosario and FRCSO Dispatcher Tim Puck who continue to make a difference in the lives of students both in uniform and on the sidelines.

(If you have any pictures of these Coaches in action feel free to share them!!)

Congratulations Rachel!

Last night Dispatch received a call in regards to a Mountain Lion that had gone into a residence out in the Cottonwood Springs Dam area.

Deputy Close asked that we share the following tips on preventing wildlife from entering your home.

• Keep windows and doors closed, including home, garage and vehicle doors.
• Don’t leave pet food out
• Close all pet doors and secure pets at night.
• Secure trash cans with tight fitting lids
• Cover window wells with commercially available grates or bubbles or make a cover using quarter-inch hardware cloth or chicken wire.
• Install outside lighting. Light areas where you walk so you can see wildlife if any are present.
• Installing Motion sensor deterrents – Floodlights, motion activated sprinklers, ultrasonic repellers etc.
• Close holes (larger than one-quarter inch) and openings around your home and under the foundation so that animals such as snakes, rats, mice, bats, raccoons and skunks will not be tempted to make their homes.
• Seal crawl spaces.
• Screen fireplace chimneys and furnaces, attic and dryer vents and other holes. Keep fireplace dampers closed to avoid "drop-in" guests such as bats, birds, squirrels and raccoons.

Remember - We are are the ones encroaching on wildlife habitats, not the other way around.

This Honda Dirt Bike was located this morning. If you are the owner or know who the owner is, please reach out to us as we would like to return it.

Before you ask - yes we ran the VIN and it is not coming back registered or entered as stolen.

The owner will need to provide either a bill of sale or have some kind of documentation that confirms the VIN.

Thank You!
