Houghton All Sports Boosters Our members can also be seen assisting in service roles to support Houghton athletics.

The mission of the Boosters is to support the athletics programs and student athletes of Houghton Portage Township Schools in providing students with an opportunity to participate in a full athletic program. The Gremlins All-Sports Booster Club was formed to help provide financial and in-kind support for the Houghton-Portage Township Schools' athletic program, to encourage athletic participation and excellence for all student-athletes, and to financially subsidize all sports activities through fundraising and member participation. The booster club's fundraising efforts include management of the concession stands, stocking and selling merchandise and apparel in the Gremlin store, and planning the annual dinner/dance - our largest annual fundraiser. If you would like to become involved in booster activities - working in the concession stand or Gremlin store, or assisting with the dinner/dance - please contact one of the board members at [email protected]

Friday night football featured an incredible fall evening with Houghton showcasing the band and the elementary choir for senior night. The Gladstone Braves rolled into town, looking to spoil the fall festivities, but the Gremlins had other plans in mind.

The game saw both teams battle defensively, with Gladstone possessing the ball for long drives. However, each time they got near the endzone, the Gremlins defense held strong early in the first quarter. About midway in the first, Gladstone was able to score off of a turnover by the Gremlins. In the second quarter, the Gremlins were able to respond with Roth scoring a touchdown. The Gremlins trailed at the half 6-7.

Just like the weekend was forecasted to be red hot, the Gremlins came out in the second half to match, scoring a touchdown in the 3rd putting the Gremlins up 12-7.

The rest of the game saw a tug of war against both defenses, with Gladstone possessing the ball once again for most of the game. However, time and again as Gladstone neared the end zone, the Gremlins defense stood tall and kept them scoreless to win the game on senior night for coach Luoma's Gremlins.

Thank you to all the seniors for your hard work and dedication, and thank you to your parents for countless hours of driving, cheering and unwavering support.

Houghton Varsity hosted the Calumet Copper Kings for some Friday night football!
With no score after one, Calumet scored early in the second, and the Gremlins were down 0-21 at the half.

The Gremlins battled through, and were able to get on the board in the third, with some much needed yards from Neva leading into a touchdown from Roth. The Gremlins were able to score again in the 4th, with Roth leading the charge, but it still wasn't enough, and we fell to Calumet 14-34.

Keep working boys!
