Rivalry week in Ohio means we're all picking sides on Friday night. This weekend, there's one side every Ohioan can get behind.

Greenfield Exempted Village School District is Ohio's only school in T-Mobile's Friday Night 5G Lights competition, and they just dropped to second place in the Midwest. Only a few days remain to take back the lead.

The Washington Court House Fire Department is asking our community to vote once a day, every day, through October 25. Set a reminder, vote, and share.

Thank You for Joining Us!

On behalf of the members of the Washington Court House Fire Department, thank you to everyone who came out to our open house today. It was a pleasure to welcome so many families, neighbors, and friends.

A special thank you to our partners at the Fayette County EMS District - FCEMS - Washington CH, Ohio for co-hosting at their Temple Street location, to the Fayette County Emergency Management Agency for sharing information on household emergency preparedness, and to Fayette County Box65 Scene Support for keeping our visitors cool and happy with snow cones. Events like this show the strength of the working relationships among our agencies and organizations, and the shared commitment we have to this community.

One of the highlights of the day was the number of visitors who took the time to learn how to properly use a fire extinguisher. Knowing how to act in the first moments of a fire can make a real difference, and we were proud to see so many people step up and get hands-on experience.

Thank you as well to our members who gave their time to make this event successful.

Open houses give us a chance to meet the people we serve outside of an emergency, and they help build the trust our work depends on. We hope every family left a little more knowledgeable about keeping their home safe and prepared, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Our neighbors, Greenfield Exempted Village School District, just south of Fayette County, are in the top running for this contest. It appears to be the only school in Ohio still in the top spot.

The task is simple: go to the link below, select "Midwest," and vote McClain. One vote per day is authorized, and casting a vote takes less than 60 seconds.

Fire Safety Sound Off Is Back!

This week, the Washington Court House Fire Department kicked off this year’s Fire Safety Sound Off program at Cherry Hill Primary School. Cherry Hill is the first of many visits scheduled this school year as we bring the program to every elementary school in our community.

The Sound Off program teaches students the basics of home fire safety. Students take home assignments to work with their families on an escape plan, look for fire hazards, and test their smoke alarms. Any homework that shows a home needs a working smoke alarm is passed along to the fire department serving that area, so we can help make sure every home is protected.

Thank you to the Cherry Hill staff and students for welcoming us. We look forward to visiting more schools in the weeks ahead!
