There will be a request on your ballot to support renewing our Fire Levy. We are asking for a Renewal with Decrease. Below are some of the questions and answers we have received so far. Thank you!
Frequently Asked Questions
1) Why the need for a levy?
Our current levy is 5 years and about to expire.
2) What is a renewal with decrease?
A renewal with decrease is simply a renewal ask for money for the same reason, fire and accident scene, but at a lower millage.
Renewal with decrease in millage was 1.5mil and now 1.0mil due to the increased property values.
3) Why the need for a decrease?
The Perry Twp Trustees and Fiscal Officer worked with our two contracted Fire Departments to obtain good future estimates on costs. We then worked with our County Auditor to present the Perry Twp residents with the most accurate ask. With the recent rise in property assessed values, we worked to decrease the millage to not collect more than is needed.
4) How much will it cost in millage and $?
May be very close to the same. The cost will be 1 mil. Your property’s assessed value is searchable on the Fayette County Auditor’s website.
Estimated to be $35 on $100,000 county auditor's market value.
6) How could our insurance rates affected if we vote no?
If our residents do not have contracted fire protection, insurance rates may increase and policies may change. Contact your insurance agent for more details.
7) Which fire departments are we contracted with?
We are contracted with Concord Green Fire Department in Staunton and Paint Creek Joint EMS & Fire District in Greenfield.
If you have additional questions, please reach out to one of your Perry Township Trustees.
Thank You!
