Fort Bend County Tax Assessor-Collector Carmen Patrice Turner and two of her subordinates, Shemerrylyn Regina Fields and Victor Calvin Ewing, have been federally indicted for conspiracy, theft concerning federal program funds and wire fraud. Turner is accused of using money allotted for county payroll to pay Fields and Ewing to care for her elderly mother, among other duties, while on the county clock and instructing them to lie about it on their timesheets.
FBI Houston's Public Corruption team, the Texas Rangers, and the Harris County DA's Office investigated.

Two Houston-area residents have been indicted for allegedly submitting fraudulent financial documents to multiple mortgage lenders to help borrowers obtain loans they might not otherwise qualify for. Tammi Hunnicutt, 64, and Taylor Dickson, 33, are accused of submitting loan applications with falsified pay stubs, W-2 forms and bank statements to misrepresent borrowers’ employment and income to help them qualify for mortgage loans:

A federal prison inmate in Beaumont has been convicted in an investment fraud scheme. Riley Graham, 60, aka David Drake, while imprisoned at the low security correctional facility at the Bureau of Prisons Federal Correctional Complex defrauded a Beaumont pastor, his family, and the owners of a North Carolina construction business, of over $1.4 million. The FBI is warning the public that scammers could exploit the 2026 U.S. Midterm Elections to carry out financial fraud schemes. Scammers use the names, images, logos, and slogans of candidates to fraudulently solicit campaign contributions, sell merchandise that is never delivered, or steal personally identifiable information that can be used for other fraud.

Dozier is a former Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy accused of threatening to arrest a woman unless she had s*x with him. Dozier was arrested on October 1 and is charged with attempted s*xual assault and official oppression.

The second of eight individuals indicted for the March 2024 kidnapping for ransom in southeast Houston of several people has been sentenced. Elloy Figueroa Pedraza was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison. Last month, Jesus Salgado was sentenced to 15 years for his role in the case. The victims were rescued by the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team and FBI Houston SWAT during an April 2024 operation.

CAPTURED: After 29 years on the run, fugitive Rogelio Guerra Vasquez has been arrested in Mexico thanks to assistance by FBI Houston, FBI Mexico Legal Attaché office, and the Beaumont Police Department. Guerra Vasquez, now 69, was wanted for the 1997 murder of his wife of 21 years, Sugie Vasquez in Orange, Texas.
