This Friday, the baristas at slowpokes are taking over the coffee shop for a special movie night. Come through for a brilliant feature from an Iranian filmmaker, excellent coffee, and a Friday night w**e pour from their happy hour menu.
Bring your crew (and your car, there is plenty of parking).

Moon Tower Inn has become an East End / Second Ward favorite for good reason.

Known for its laid back atmosphere, late nights, live music, game nights, and one of the wildest hot dog menus in Houston - this place feels like a neighborhood staple.

From deer and wagyu to duck foie gras, elk, rabbit, pheasant, and wild boar, Moon Tower does food their own way. Add craft b**r, tacos, burgers, and friendly staff into the mix and you’ll understand why people keep coming back.

A little weird. A little chaotic. A lot of fun.

Tucked inside Headquarters at 3302 Canal,
Earth to Mars Cafe is quietly serving some of the freshest breakfast and lunch in Second Ward.

Led by Chef Mars Wasterval—who’s cooked everywhere from Mexico City to Australia, Ireland, and right here in Houston (MFA & Brasserie 19)—the menu blends global experience with simple, thoughtful ingredients.

Among the most popular dishes at Earth to Mars are the turkey wrap, avocado toast, and rotating daily plates and sandwiches, all made fresh and priced accessibly.

“Earth” isn’t just a name—it reflects the ingredients. Many come straight from the on-site garden or Blackwood Organic Farm. Think vibrant greens, fresh herbs, and seasonal produce in every bite.

A visit here feels easy, welcoming, and genuinely local.
And if you’re lucky, barista Kirin Herbert might even sing your favorite Michael Jackson song. She knows them all 🤭

Street to Kitchen continues to earn its place as one of Houston’s most talked-about dining rooms, where bold, authentic Thai flavors meet a space full of life.

As Family Trends puts it, “the room hums with the kind of energy that only happens when a restaurant genuinely earns its popularity,” pairing “exciting” and “deeply satisfying” dishes with an atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

Michelin-recognized and led by Chef G, 2023 James Beard “Best Chef: Texas” winner, alongside Graham Painter, Street to Kitchen stands as a staple in Second Ward - rooted in flavor, community, and intention.

Recently, the restaurant has also made headlines for giving back, donating hundreds of meals to unpaid TSA workers.
