We are proud to share another major milestone in our commitment to Community Risk Reduction!

After recently being selected as one of just 12 host sites nationwide for a brand-new national Community Risk Reduction program, Little York Fire Department has now been selected as one of only TWO fire departments in the country to participate in a pilot program testing the new ARIA solution!

Opportunities like these don’t happen by accident. They reflect our commitment to innovation, building partnerships, and finding new ways to improve public safety.

Community Risk Reduction isn’t just about responding to emergencies. It’s about identifying risks, preventing emergencies before they happen, and building a safer community for everyone.

Whiskers still has all nine lives thanks to the crew of Ladder 84!

Last night, our firefighters responded to a report of a kitten trapped inside a storm drain. With a little teamwork, determination, and some creative maneuvering, the crew successfully rescued the tiny feline from its unexpected underground adventure.

But the story gets even better! Not only was Whiskers safely rescued, but this little furball also found a forever home!

Just another reminder that no call is too small when it comes to helping those in need, even our four-legged friends!

Great work, Ladder 84! 🚒👏

🚨 Smoke Alarms Save Lives! 🚨

Little York Fire Department offers a FREE Smoke Alarm Program to help keep our community safe.

Residents within our district can request a home safety visit, where our team will check existing smoke alarms and install new alarms when needed at no cost.

🔥 Why do smoke alarms matter?
• Working smoke alarms can reduce the risk of dying in a home fire by about half.
• Many fatal fires happen at night while people are sleeping.
• Smoke spreads quickly, and early warning can provide the critical time needed to escape safely.

Our goal is simple: every home protected, every family prepared.

Be prepared. Stay safe. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

📲 Scan the QR code to learn more or request a home safety visit.

Mantente seguro. La seguridad es responsabilidad de todos.

When replacing lithium-ion batteries for e-bikes, e-scooters, power tools, electronics, or other rechargeable devices, choose safety over savings.

Look for devices and batteries that are certified by a nationally recognized testing laboratory, such as UL, to help ensure they meet established safety requirements.

TEMU is NOT the place to shop for replacement lithium-ion batteries for your devices or riding equipment. Cheap, uncertified, counterfeit, or incompatible batteries may not meet the same safety standards and can overheat, catch fire, or cause serious damage.

Protect yourself and your family:

• Purchase replacement batteries directly from the manufacturer or a reputable authorized retailer.
• Use only batteries recommended or approved by the device manufacturer.
• Look for recognized safety certifications.
• Never use a battery that is swollen, damaged, unusually hot, leaking, or producing an unusual odor.

Saving a few dollars today isn't worth risking a fire, serious injury, or the loss of your home tomorrow.

🔥 Buy smart. Charge smart. Stay safe.

We’re excited to announce that Little York Fire Department was selected as one of just 12 sites nationwide to host the new Vision 20/20 Community Risk Intelligence (CRI) Training, developed in partnership with Esri!

This two-day course is designed to build a critical skill set for current and future fire service leaders by combining geospatial analysis, incident data, and data-informed decision making to better understand risk within the communities we serve.

Built around Vision 20/20’s mission to Educate, Equip, and Engage, the CRI course helps students turn national and local incident data into actionable risk intelligence that can be applied directly to their department’s Community Risk Assessment (CRA) and the NFPA 1300 CRA process.

The course covers five key areas:

🔥 Community Risk Intelligence
📊 NERIS Data Preparation
🗺️ Fire Incident Pattern Analysis
📱 ArcGIS Apps
📈 Data Dashboards

Students work in ArcGIS Online using their own department’s incident data, so you won’t spend two days working with a generic sample dataset. By the end of the course, participants will have a working start on their own community risk analysis.

If you work in Community Risk Reduction, fire prevention, emergency management, data/GIS, administration, or fire service leadership, this is an opportunity to develop skills that can directly impact how your organization identifies risk, allocates resources, and makes decisions.

Only 12 sites nationwide were selected to host this training, and we’re proud to bring one of them to Little York Fire Department in North Harris County.

Registration and course information:

Seats are limited — we hope to see you in February!

Tomorrow is National Night Out!

National Night Out is all about bringing neighbors and first responders together to build stronger relationships, strengthen community partnerships, and help make the neighborhoods we serve safer places to live, work, and raise a family.

For Little York Fire Department, it’s also an opportunity to get out of the station and spend time with the people we’re proud to serve. No emergency. No sirens needed. Just good conversations, new connections, and a chance to get to know one another.

Our crews will be making several stops throughout the district tomorrow evening, and we look forward to meeting you and your families! If you see the Little York trucks pull up, come say hello, meet your firefighters, take some pictures, and enjoy the evening with your neighbors.

Building safer, stronger communities together.

Today, we had the pleasure of attending the 10th Annual Lonestar Safety Fest!

This incredible FREE family event brought together more than 30 public safety agencies and welcomed thousands of attendees for a day focused on safety, education, community, and plenty of family fun.

But we have to give a special shoutout to one of our own! Firefighter Chanthapathet made a last-minute decision to enter the Firefighter Combat Challenge and he definitely didn’t disappoint! Chan battled through the course and brought home an impressive 3rd PLACE finish!

Congratulations, Chan! Way to step up, compete, and represent Little York Fire Department!
